Chapter 23 Mr. Blackwood's Schemes

Keira Robinson looked at Melina and fixed her eyes on Bennett's face.

She spoe in a sharp and sour.

"Oh my, Melina, where did you get a child?"

"If I remember correctly, you aren't not married yet, right?"

Melina didn't want to talk too much with her. They had never been on the same wavelength , and they didn't get along with each other in the same circle.

Seeing her son's slightly blue eyes and extremely concealed tiredness, she felt even more distressed and just wanted to take him back to sleep.

"You don't have to worry about it. Also, there are cameras in the cneighborhood."

After saying this, she left in a hurry.

Keira's arrogant expression immediately collapsed. She hurriedly tugged at her clothes and looked at the man standing behind her for help.

"She was lying. The cameras here have long been broken. Otherwise, why would I have chosen this place?" The man said indifferently.

Looking at the graceful figure in the distance, he bit his lips, and a few small flames of desire rose in his eyes.

"Hey, I'm still here. Do you take a fancy on someone else now?" Keira stomped her feet angrily, but a scheming look flashed across her slightly lowered eyes.

Hearing her complaints, the man laughed indifferently. He pinched her waist and brought her to quickly disappear into the night.

...

"Mommy, why did you cover my ears just now?"

In the apartment, Bennett, who was resting on Melina's arm, asked innocently.

Melina was stunned. A few seconds later, she realized what her son was talking about. Her face suddenly felt hot, but when she thought of her son's age, she began to blurt out some nonsense in confidence, "Because their voices are very unpleasant to hear, which is also a kind of pollution. That's why Mommy covered your ears."

Indeed, that was it!

Melina secretly gave herself a thumbs up in her heart.

"But... I clearly saw that the zipper of the uncle's pants was not pulled, and there were red marks on the aunt's neck. It didn't seem like they were talking, but it seemed like they were having sex!"

Melina was stunned.

"Bennett? How did you know that? Who taught you that? Did Luther teach you that?"

Melina was no longer sleepy and felt that she needed to talk to that weird Mr. Blackwood about his parenting philosophy.

"That's not it." Seeing her pick up her phone, Bennett quickly hugged her arm. "I heard it from Uncle Davis. He said that when a man and a woman fall in love, they would applaud for love, and it could also be called sex. But I feel that what he said is wrong."

"Why?" Melina asked.

"Because you and dad don't applaud for love!"

"Then the aunt and that old man were not husband and wife at first glance, but they were doing something like that. Mommy, why?"

Melina was speechless.

She thought to herself, "Why ah... I don't know the answer either!"

Listening to her son constantly blurting out the vocabularies used in the world of adults, Melina felt very tired and could not imagine what kind of environment he grew up in.

Fortunately, the child was not so energetic, and he was sleepy after talking for a while.

Melina gently stroked his little face, but she could not fall asleep no matter what.

She picked up her phone. To her surprise, her Instagram that were only visible to a few people actually had a few more likes. The latest one was still from Luther.

Melina immediately opened the call log, but there was no number from that person in the call log.

She wondered in her heart, "Is he still angry?"

Melina could not understand. On the way, she had already heard her son talk about the conversation between father and son at night. No matter how others thought about it, for her, it was certain that she believed in her son but not an outsider.

Silently, she noted it down for someone in the notebook in her heart.

...

Luther, who was sitting in the car, sneezed.

Looking at the darkened windows in the distance, he motioned for the driver to drive him away.

Without a doubt, at this moment, he was downstairs in Melina's apartment.

His phone had been on the dial screen for a long time, but until he left, he did not dial the number.

Because of the delay in his aunt's house, the performance had already ended by the time he arrived at the circus.

When he learned that Melina had brought the baby to the company apartment, Luther's first thought was to go up and catch them. But if he really went, it would be a small blow to his pride, and it would risk exposing his identity.

One must know that the security in this district was very good, especially on the floor where Melina lived. In the elevator corridor, there was a additional door with a fingerprint lock on it.

Of course, he had the access to that the fingerprint lock.

"I remember that you have an empty apartment in the company." Out of the blue, he suddenly turned his gaze to Bill, who was quietly cheking his phone.

The four special assistants specially created a group chat and spent all day making bets on their boss, having a great time.

"Yes, there's oneon the 16th floor of our building," Bill replied.

"Move out then. Give it to Madam tomorrow."

"Wait, what?" Bill was taken aback.

"Is there a problem? It's decided. Go to the company tomorrow and find a reason." Luther said in an unquestionable tone, then opened the calendar.

Although the meeting at night was not pleasant, his aunt also reminded him that it had been a long time since he had visited his mother.

"Clear my schedule for the 2nd day of next month." After a long silence, he made a decision.

...

Feeling anxious and resless, Melina did not rest well for the entire night.

But because she had to go to work the next day, she had to call the butler and send her son to the car back to the manor.

Because Boss had returned to the country, the company had received two more big projects in less than half a month.

Melina had just put down her things and sat down when she was called to the office by Mr. King.

"Boss, do you need something?" She stared at the table and asked.

It was not that she was disrespectful to the boss, but Mr. King's face was so attractive.

He looked like he had not slept well, the man's already intense gaze was tinged with a bit of weary elegance. His eyelids were beginning to droop like the curtains that failed to be opened in the middle of the day. His pale face and red lips were slightly pursed, making people want to kiss him.

This beauty that surpassed gender made Melina who studied language be stuck for words. It also made her more curious about the legendary girlfriend of the Boss. She thought to herself, "What kind of appearance or confidence would his girlfriend have only to be able to stand by his side calmly?"

Luther (Mr. King) stared at her for a while. Seeing that she did not respond, he knew that she must be imagining some strange plot.

From the projects she had taken over in the past, he had already understood that Melina's imagination was extraordinarily unreasonable.

Am I not attractive enough? he thought, feeling a twinge of self-doubt. Isn't this woman supposed to be someone who appreciates good looks?

"I remember you know French." He used a statement to pull Melina's soul back to reality.

"Right." she replied.

"Then translate this document. Give it to me before you get off work."

As he spoke, he handed a document to Melina.

Melina immediately went to pick it up. The fingers of the two people brushed through the air. The coldness of the man's fingers made her instinctively quiver and she directly dropped the document to the ground.

"Sorry."

Melina quickly lowered her head to pick it up. At this moment, another hand blocked her way.

"Forget it, don't pick it up. Translate this one then. That one has too many pages. You can't do it alone."

The man's tone was casual, and his voice was particularly sexy with his face.

Looking at the three new pieces of contract that he handed to her, Melina felt that her ability was being questioned.

But as soon as she looked up and met those somewhat impatient gaze, she found that she seemed to be unable to say anything.

Soon, after translating half a piece of it, she realized that she was lucky that she hadn't behaved recklessly just now.

Although she could speak French well, what Boss had just given her was full of highly specialized terminology that required meticulous proofreading and double-checking.

She was a Virgo and had a slight OCD.

As a result, to hand in a relatively perfect result, she did not eat lunch and continued to translate the text in the office.

Even though they were separated by a peculiar glass wall, Luther, who was sitting in the president's office, could see everything in the secretary's office.

It seemed that after taking the document away, Melina had never left her workplace and had not even finished a glass of water.

"Order a meal for Madam, under your name." He sent a message to his assistant on OA.

"I'm doing this to ensure her stay healthy to have a child in the future, not to care about her." Luther silently comforted himself in his heart and then continued to read the documents.

Half an hour before work ended, Melina finally finished translating the complicated document.

She let out a long breath, then excitedly picked up the document and went to look for Mr. King.

It had to be said that there was a great sense of accomplishment to focus on a job.

But...

"Look at here. This is the ‘resplendent starry sky', not the ‘brilliant starry sky'."

"Here, though this word has no feminine form, it can also be used for women."

"And this..."

With the man's magnetic voice, Melina's face gradually turned pale.

Although it was embarrassing, she had to admit that his revised version flowed much more smoothly than hers.

However, there seemed to be something wrong.

She thought to herself, "Isn't it usually the boss who doesn't understand the text so that he has to ask his subordinate to translate it urgently?"

Seeing Mr. King's picky attitude, Melina could not help but ask her own thoughts, "You understand the text?"

"Of course."

"Then why did you need me to translate it?" she asked, perplexed.

The document was a summary sent by another company. It did not need to be passed down, nor did it need to be posted on the company's intranet. It was essentially meant for Mr. King's eyes only.

"Melina." Mr. King looked at her expressionlessly and said lightly, "Are you the boss, or am I the boss?"

Melina was speechless.

"Alright, stop cursing me in your heart. I asked you to translate it so that I can take you on a business trip next week. If I didn't know your skill level beforehand, how could I let you come along?"

"Oh right, this is for you. My girlfriend doesn't have spare time. Just treat it as a gift for your help yesterday." he addded and handed three show tickets to Melina.

He thought that Melina liked to watch performances and would definitely bring her son along, so she should be able to understand his meaning if he gave her three tickets.
