Chapter 46 Edwin Haverford

This was the first time Luther had heard such a weird reason. His first reaction was that Melina was fooling him again.

But as soon as he opened the door, he saw that Melina curled up in the corner and seemed to have fallen asleep, but the tears on her face showed that she seemed to have just cried.

Why did she cry?

Luther was puzzled. Was there anything else she needed to worry about or be sad about?

"Boss, today is the anniversary of Madam's mother's death," Tony said as he held a stack of files and stood behind Luther.

"You investigated her again?" Luther asked. Tony took a few steps forward and reported in a low voice, "Mrs. Blackwood took the initiative to mention it today. She originally wanted to set up a small chapel at home, but she gave up when she heard that you had no religious belief."

"Then, I couldn't help but do some investigation. And I found something interesting." He continued.

"What do you mean?" Luther was slightly startled.

Then, when he saw the Pad, his pupils instantly dilated several times.

...

Pearl Town.

It was a small fishing village 200 kilometers away from the capital.

As a coastal village, it had moist air and abundant rainfall. It was very humid all year round, and almost every household made a living by fishing.

Why would Luther have a deep impression of this place?

Because when he was kidnapped and thrown into the sea, he was saved from the coast there. He still remembered that the fish there was delicious and the air was nice.

Unexpectedly, after a lot of things, he got a wife who also came from there.

However, it was not this place that surprised him. It was the rise of Winslow family.

Everyone knew that Mrs. Winslow now was Melina's stepmother.

But it was strange that Melina looked like neither Roger or her stepmother.

Plus, it was said that Roger's ex-wife was also brought out of the sea. When she was rescued, she lost her memory and her health was not good. She died after giving birth to Melina.

"Don't you think that Melina looks like a person?" Tony's words snapped Luther back to reality.

"Are you talking about her biological mother?" Luther asked.

"No, I'm talking about Mr. Haverford." Tony said as he placed a printed photo next to the photo of Melina in her teenage.

Then a shocking scene appeared.

Melina looked strikingly like Edwin, the uncle of Cecily and also the one who was now in charge of Haverford family.

Aside from their foreheads and their gender, the two were almost twins.

"You think…" Luther's expression also became serious.

"I just felt that it was suspicious, but the timing was not right. Miss Haverford said that Edwin's wife passed away more than ten years ago, but Melina's mother passed away more than twenty years ago." Tony said.

"Investigate it." Luther paused and continued. "But don't tell Melina yet."

After learning about the life of Melina over the past twenty years, he had thought of teaching Winslow family a lesson, but when he thought that Roger was Melina's birth father, he gave up the idea.

But if he was not…

Then...

Nobody could blame him for being ruthless.

...

No. 8 Mansion.

Cecily asked her assistant to go away and entered her exclusive suite in high spirits.

Although she was pregnant, her appetite for indulgence hadn't waned.

She was always fond of drinking and playing. If she couldn't have fun for a few days, she would feel uncomfortable.

But for the sake of the child, she still restrained herself.

She didn't invite people to her home anymore. She directly paid for VIP service of No. 8 Mansion, the famous club in the capital, and came there to have fun every few days. She was pregnant, so she couldn't be too crazy. Otherwise, something bad would happen.

"Miss Haverford, do you want Number 19 as usual?" The handsome PR manager knelt, placed the fruit tray on the table, and helped her take off her high heels.

"No, I want to change my taste from time to time. I think you are pretty good. How about you?" Cecily raised a finger and hooked it around the man's chin.

Those who came here to work and became managers were all smart people.

With his heart filled with joy, the guy blushed bashfully. "Well... I usually don't entertain guests personally."

"Pfft-"

"Are you kidding me?"

Cecily smiled sarcastically. She took out a stack of money from her bag and slapped it on the man's chest.

"Well, of course, it depends on who the guest is." The guy, who was ridiculed, stuffed the money directly into his pockets without changing his expression. Then, he stood up. "But I have to take the order first and then take a shower, right?"

"Alright, go ahead. Hurry up. Don't make me wait too long. Otherwise, I'll give you a bad review." Cecily sneered.

"That won't happen."

As the man spoke, he bent down and went out.

Cecily thought that since she had nothing to do and could not drink, so she took off her clothes and jumped into the bathtub full of rose petals, waiting for the man to come.

She had just jumped into the bathtub when the sound of the door came into her ears.

"Wow, so fast." She teased with a smile.

However, after waiting for a long time, she did not hear any sound. Instead, she felt that the room was a little cold. She could also feel a kind of cold wind.

"Hey, are you crazy? Turn up the air conditioner. Are you trying to freeze me to death?" She complained without looking back.

"No. I want to beat you to death." A deep voice said.

"What?"

Cecily was shocked by this cold tone, and then she smiled. "Ah, darling, you are so funny. Do you want to play the game of The Tyrant CEO Has Fallen for Me? But your line isn't right."

"Then what should it be?" The cold voice continued.

"It should be… I want to…" Cecily imitated the obscene man's tone in the movie, pinching her throat as she spoke.

But before she could finish, her head suffered a heavy blow, and her sight grew dim.

She hurriedly removed the things covering her face and found that these were her clothes and her phone.

"Hey! Are you insane! Do you know who I am?"

She angrily stood up from the water and roared.

However, when she saw the familiar family badge and a row of men wearing sunglasses in front of her, she was so frightened that she instantly lay back in the bathtub and pinched her thigh in horror.

"Uncle, why are you here?"

Behind the men in black, a man was sitting in a wheelchair.

He was dressed in a black robe with gold-rimmed glasses and two jade balls in his hands. When he heard her words, the man looked at the ceiling expressionlessly.

"You don't want me here, so you can ruin Haverford family's reputation? You don't want me here, so you can become enemies with Voss family?" The man said with a cold voice.

"Cecily! How exactly did your parents teach you? Are you so lonely that you couldn't help yourself from chasing after someone else shamelessly and becoming a mistress?" He continued. "But don't worry. With me around, these things will not happen. I'll give you five minutes to dress up. Then, let's have a good chat."

After the man finished, the other men in black returned to their original position and hid him behind their backs.

However, Cecily knew that this was not because the man wanted to protect her privacy, but because he did not want to see her and thought that she was dirty!

She didn't understand.

What exactly did she do wrong?

Ever since she was young, no matter how hard she worked and how much she tried to please him, he did not like her.

Even though she was the direct descendant of Haverford family, Edwin always adopted other orphans, gave them money, and even helped them find good partners.

He even donated a large amount of money to build primary schools every year.

There must be something wrong with his brain!

However, she did not dare to disobey him.

Others only knew that Haverford family's current family head was a kind and famous businessman, but they did not know that he was cold and heartless in private. As long as Cecily could recall, she had never seen her uncle smile.

That was right, the person who came to find her was Haverford family's family head, Edwin Haverford.

In Luther's words, he was the only person in Haverford family worth keeping in touch.

But sometimes, fate was cruel to good people. His wife died, and he had no children. He had endless wealth, but he was quite lonely.

"You are pregnant. Tell me, who is the father?" Edwin still said in composure.

"If I tell you, can I keep the baby?" Cecily stood in front of him with her hands down. Her hair was still wet, but she did not dare to move. She could only endure it.

"Sure."

"Really?" Cecily's eyes lit up.

"But that person must marry you. Our family does not allow an illegitimate child to be born." Edwin said indifferently.

"It is not an illegitimate child. This is Luther's child. However, he has now married a woman who is said to be Bennett's biological mother. So..." Cecily said excitedly.

"Really?" The man's casual tone made Cecily scared, but she thought that since Luther had promised her that he wouldn't contradict her, then he would definitely not do so, so he was the best person to take the blame!

"Uncle, will I joke with you about this?" Cecily tried her best to maintain her composure as she spoke seriously.

"Cecily Haverford!" The man suddenly raised his voice. "Do you regard me as a fool?"

Cecily's body trembled slightly, and she quickly shook her head. "How would I dare? I'm telling the truth. Have you forgotten that Luther and I have been in a relationship for many years?"

"It was he who betrayed me, uncle. Are you just going to watch me being bullied?" As Cecily spoke, tears streamed down her face.

"Bastard!" Edwin finally burst out.

"Maybe… He has been deceived by someone. That woman…" Cecily lowered her head feebly.

"I talking of you.Even now, you are still lying! I don't care how you got into a relationship with Edmund, but you can't keep this child. I'll get someone to take you back later. You can't come out till you know what's right for you." Cecily's stubbornness made Edwin lose his patience completely.

After hitting a stack of evidence on her face, he immediately left.

Naturally, Cecily was not willing to do nothing and wait for sentence, so she furiously resisted.

"Miss Cecily, I hope we don't need to force you." The handsome man in black looked at her coldly.

"You... you..."

She glared at him angrily and screamed hysterically.

Then, she was dragged to the top floor of the No. 8 Mansion and stuffed into Haverford family's private plane.

"Master." After settling her down, Edwin's assistant, Jack, came to ask him for instructions.

"I won't be going back now. Just ask someone to send her back and keep an eye on her. By the way, have you confirmed the coordinates of the place I asked you to investigate? Yes, this is the address, but our plane can't fly over directly." Jack respectfully handed over a map.
