Chapter 49 Apologize?

The one who spoke was none other than Brenda Blackwood, sitting on the sofa.

She was Dorian's mother, who could have almost become Melina's mother-in-law, and she had always looked down on Melina.

Mrs. Blackwood was a full-time housewife and usually liked to go abroad for shopping.

That day, when Luther took Melina to the family banquet, Mrs. Blackwood was having a great time shopping abroad. Dorian and Vanessa knew Melina's identity, but how could the two people with their plans take the initiative to talk to Brenda about this?

So when Brenda saw Melina, she could not help but start mocking her.

Melina frowned and instinctively glanced at Dorian.

Is everyone in this family so messy?

"Mom, what are you talking about? Don't talk nonsense." Afraid of Luther, Dorian quickly poked his mother.

Although he didn't want to lower his head to this woman who had once begged him so hard, Melina was recognized by Senior Madam Blackwood now to be the wife of the next family head. He couldn't afford to offend her.

He was just a small shrimp from the side branch. How could he fight "the chosen one"?

However, how could Brenda know what her son was thinking? When she saw Melina staring at her son, she was even more contemptuous.

She looked Melina up and down with a picky gaze.

"Do you think you can seduce my son by dressing like this and make my son change his mind? Let me tell you, Melina, it won't happen! Just give up. You can't be compared to your sister." Her words were too harsh and direct, making senior Mrs. Winslow so angry that she couldn't help but want to rebuke her.

She wasn't sure what exactly had happened between her granddaughter and this Dorian, but she was certain that the girl she had taken care of for many years deserved anyone.

Compared to Vanessa...

The senior Mrs. Winslow was very speechless. Roger was a snobbish businessman, and Florence was a famous ruffian in the village.

The daughter taught by these two people…Unless there was a genetic mutation, how would she be better than Melina?

Back then, senior Mrs. Winslow also wanted to let Vanessa live with her, but Florence disliked the poor environment of the small fishing village.

Thus, when Melina was learning foreign languages, zither, chess, calligraphy, and painting from senior Mrs. Winslow, Vanessa was following her mother to go shopping everywhere in the big city. Her specialty was only belly dance.

senior Mrs. Winslow could not understand.

Seeing that senior Mrs. Winslow was angry, Melina quickly gave her a comforting look.

Back then, because she liked Dorian, she was very respectful to Madam Blackwood.

But now?

Some people were always troublesome!

"Yes, I can't compare with Vanessa." Seeing that her stepmother was also staring at her and waiting for a good show, Melina also lost her temper. "I can't compare with her because I'm not as coquettish as her. Because I won't be pregnant before marriage. And because the person she will marry is my ex-boyfriend."

"Melina! How can you say that? Vanessa is your sister. How dare you say this on such a big day?" Florence was furious, but when she thought of Melina's current identity, she did not dare to beat her directly.

Plus, there were other guests at home today. If she hit her in front of the others, it would be heard by Luther.

She had heard people say that although Luther was rich and powerful, he was a pervert! She heard that he had to kill a few people every month and eat human flesh. Maybe one day, Melina would be bitten to death.

She did not want to lower herself to the same level as a dying person.

"That's right, Melina, what nonsense are you talking about standing at the door? Hurry up and enter the house with your grandmother." Roger also came out of the room when he heard the noise. He looked around and did not find Luther. His attitude toward Melina became not friendly.

After reprimanding Melina, he glanced at his mother.

"Mom, I know you don't like such an occation. Since Melina is back, you should hurry to the second floor to have meals."

Now that he was rich, he no longer liked to contact his relatives in his hometown.

What was more, senior Mrs. Winslow was not his biological mother. He could give her 2,000 per month as living expenses, but he wouldn't respect her.

"That's right, Melina, come with me. I brought you your favorite persimmon cakes from our hometown. There are also some hazel. I originally wanted to make hazel cakes, but I didn't have time. You can make them too. When you go back, you can make some yourself."

Senior Mrs. Winslow held her granddaughter's hand and walked upstairs.

Not to mention that Roger did not allow her to have meals with them, she also did not want to pay attention to them. Those people seemed to be dressed in expensive and beautiful clothes, but their words were vulgar. They didn't belong to the upper classes.

Melina was still the best. The more she looked at her, the more she liked her. Her temperament was also good.

It was as if she could never get enough of looking at Melina. Unfortunately, Melina had bad luck. How could she fall in love with Dorian, a troublesome man?

Melina nodded. She also had many things to say to her grandmother. They held each other's hands and walked upstairs.

Just as they stepped on the stairs, there was suddenly a burst of sharp and sour laughter behind them.

"Pfft, there are some people who just won't be enough for the real stage. No matter how glamorous you look, you're still an ordinary pheasant."

Brenda said loudly as she looked at Melina's back. In the past, she wouldn't say anything if Melina left. She wouldn't feel annoyed if she didn't see her, but today was different. She had heard from Florence that Melina didn't add much to her sister's dowry even if she had money. She had even bought such an expensive bag. Brenda understood that this woman was deliberately going against Vanessa and Blackwood family.

It was not that she was short of Melina's money.

She just enjoyed that attitude.

As long as she gave her a single glance or said some simple words, Melina would offer her everything. This gave her the feeling that she was the wife of a Marquis in ancient times. Melina, at best, was a maidservant of her son.

When she was happy, she smiled at her.

If she was unhappy, she could beat and scold her at will.

"Mom." Dorian raised his voice and called out. He did not understand why his mother had to baffle Melina today.

"Why did you call me? Son, you can't be deceived by her again. You are going to get married soon. I only recognize Vanessa as my daughter-in-law." Brenda said loudly with her hands on her waist, deliberately wanting Melina to hear her.

Unfortunately, Melina was not angry.

Instead of getting angry, she smiled.

She stood in the corridor on the second floor, looked down at her, and said, "Don't worry. I won't be blind anymore."

Your son…

She was not interested at all!

"What?"

Brenda was stunned.

When she came back to her senses, she cursed, "Melina, you rascally girl, are you trying to fight against me? Do you know who I am?"

"Do you believe that I won't let you see tomorrow's sun?" Brenda blurted out the lines from the TV series.

Just as Melina was about to retort, she suddenly saw a tall silhouette outside the door. Suddenly, her eyes widened.

He…

How could he be here?

"What? Are you afraid? If you're scared, come down and apologize to me! How dare you!" Seeing Melina's shocked expression, Brenda became even more self-satisfied.

But the next second, she felt a chill down her spine.

Turning back, she fell into a cold gaze.

"Ghost!" She screamed and sat down on the ground.

Luther looked at her indifferently. His emotionless voice echoed in the hall.

"Who do you ask to apologize?"

"Fourth Master… Why are you here?" Hearing the commotion in the hall, the father of Dorian, who was drinking, walked over impatiently.

When he saw Luther he was stunned at first, and then revealed a fawning smile.

"You don't want me here so that you can bully my wife?" Luther said casually. He lowered his head and glanced at Brenda who was shocked.

The father of Dorian was stunned for a moment before he impatiently pulled his wife up from the ground. "What's going on? Are you crazy? Bullying Mrs. Blackwood?"

Brenda's eardrums burned because of his roar, and she looked around in confusion.

Mrs. Blackwood?

Luther's wife?

Where? Why didn't she know? If she knew, not to mention bullying, she would rush over to flatter her! Although she was rude and unreasonable, she was still very good at temporizing.

Thus, she immediately squeezed out a flattering smile and smiled at Luther. "Fourth Master?"

"I don't have a servant like you. Don't talk nonsense." Luther sneered.

Brenda, "..."

Ignoring her standing there like a fool, Luther raised his head and slowly walked upstairs. He took a handful of light peach-colored roses from his subordinates and stuffed them into Melina's hands.

"Sorry, I'm late."

As he spoke, he deliberately kept his chin tucked slightly, as if he was apologizing.

"Don't tell me that this is Julia's Rose." Seeing only six flowers, Melina asked carefully.

"You have good taste. Less is more, isn't it?" Luther said lightly.

Seeing the stunned expression on Melina's face, he decided to reward Bill after coming back.

Originally, he wanted to buy more roses to make a beautiful rain of roses for Melina, which would shock the whole city.

But Bill told him that it would be too routine if he did that.

It was better to give her some things that others would not easily give. Anyway, he was not short of money.

Thus, Luther spent six million pounds on buying this bouquet.

"What the hell are you doing? Are you crazy?"

After calculating the price, Melina immediately raged. She raised her hand and punched Luther in the chest.

She said this while gnashing her teeth, in a very low voice.

Luther and Mrs. Winslow heard it clearly, but in the eyes of the people downstairs, these two people were showing off their love.

Vanessa was so envious that her tears almost burst out.

Seeing her daughter's unusual behavior, Florence felt a little strange. "Vanessa, what's wrong? Isn't it just a bunch of roses? If you want it, let Dorian buy you a car of roses."

"A car of roses? I'm afraid he won't even buy one for me." Vanessa bit her lips and said angrily, forgetting that her future mother-in-law was still here.

Sure enough, Brenda was unhappy when she heard this.

She did not dare to deal with Melina now, but that did not mean that she could not deal with her daughter-in-law! "Vanessa, I don't like your words. It's just a rose. Dorian-"

"Mom, don't say that anymore. I really can't afford this flower, and I won't buy it." Dorian helplessly told them the information he had just found and looked at the second floor with a complicated expression.

"What? A single flower costs a million pounds?" Brenda lost control and screamed, her eyes bulging as if they would fall out in the next second.
