Chapter 4 An Uncle's Life

Oh my god! What happened?

Confused and disoriented, Evelyn stood up hurriedly. She couldn't even be bothered to clean the dust on her body. At that moment, she heard Theodore questioning his grandfather. "Grandpa, what are you doing?!"

"Tell her to get lost! Now!"

Evelyn looked closely. The one who furiously accused her as a loose woman and chased her away was actually Ethan.

Feeling dumbstruck and wronged, she retorted, "Grandpa, aren't you the one who invited me over? How could you?"

"Pooh!" Ethan spat with fury. "You don't deserve to call me Grandpa. How shameless of you! Get lost now!"

"You..." Tears welled up in Evelyn's eyes.

Theodore stopped being cheeky and said to her, "Please leave first." As he turned around and forcefully pushed Ethan into the house, he explained to him, "Grandpa, you misunderstood, she is not..."

"How dare you defend the bitch?! You too get lost! Go!"

Evelyn ran away from the mansion. Ethan's harsh snarl still lingered in her ears.

She couldn't fathom why this elderly changed his mind so quickly.

It was fine if he just asked her to get lost, but he actually accused her of being a loose woman, and even called her a bitch!

"Something is not right. Grandpa has brain atrophy, he probably wasn't in his proper state of mind, I can't blame him. That jerk Theodore must have been bringing loose women home constantly and caught by grandpa, so that's why grandpa misunderstood me and lashed out on me with those harsh words. It's all Theodore's fault" Evelyn thought..

The thoughts of Theodore's flirtatious behaviour earlier made Evelyn's blood boil. Touching her own burning cheeks, she fiercely gritted her teeth. "Forget it, just move on. I will never cross paths with him again once I get Morris's penis back from him anyway." She thought.

She was still frustrated even though she tried to make peace with this fact, unable to stop herself from cursing Theodore.

She came to the entrance area upon leaving the mansion and hailed a cab to get back to True Love. The scent of food reminded her that she hadn't taken her lunch. She grabbed two breads and finished them before riding home with Morris on her scooter.

She recalled Lucas's incident when she reached the house. She thought she would be scolded by her mother but to her surprise, her mother said nothing about it. Not only that, her mother even helped her move Morris's out of the car pleasantly.

She guessed that Lucas must be too ashamed to tell her mother what happened in the restaurant. Secretly delighted, she went back to her room without saying much, waiting for Theodore's phone call so that she could go and get Morris's penis home.

However, despite waiting until 11 p.m, he never called. Feeling like a fool for waiting faithfully, she sneered and took out his name card from her pocket, deciding to make the call herself instead.

"Who's calling?" Theodore picked up the call very soon, sounding a little out of breath.

Evelyn recognized his voice. She questioned coldly, "When are you going to return my penis?"

"It's you? I'm not free right now."

She questioned, "When will you be free then?"

"I will look for it later..."

"Ouch, you're hurting me." A soft lady voice was heard on the phone. The call got cut off immediately.

"Hello? Hello!"

Suddenly, she realized what Theodore was doing. As fiery color crept up her cheeks, Evelyn threw her phone on the bed, as though it was a burning coal. She couldn't help but scoffed, "Jerk!"

"Fine. It's normal for an uncle to have nightlife anyway. Let's just wait, since he said he will get back to me later." She thought.

Evelyn lied on bed once again, putting the phone next to her with her eyes closed.

"Evelyn, please throw the trash." She heard her mother's calling.

"Ok." She took the trash out immediately.

When she was just about tens of meters away from the rubbish collection point, she heard someone screaming, "Somebody got killed!"

She was immediately paralyzed with fear. The trash bag slipped from her hand, as she stood rooted on the ground dumbstruck.

Right at that moment, a bleeding decapitated head rolled to her foot. The big eyes stared up at her fiercely.

"Ahhh—"

Her eyes snapped open. Only then did she realize that it was just a nightmare—the same recurring nightmare that had haunted her for the past decade.

The dream was so vivid, so extremely real. It shook her to the core every time.

Oh...

She thought she could finally get over it when she overcame her own psychological fear and became a forensic doctor, but apparently she had not.

Perturbed, she wiped her sweat off her forehead.

The phone rang at that moment. Without a proper look at the numbers displayed on the screen, she thought it was from Theodore. She picked up the call happily. "You..."

"I'm Eric Finley. There is a murder case in The Forest in West City. Dr. Morgan, please meet up with us at the crime scene as soon as possible. We will bring along the tool case."

Evelyn was distraught. She got up from bed and left hurriedly.
