Chapter 14 The First Kiss!

The woman had curves in all the right places, especially some places that shook as she walked. Moreover, she wore a gown with a plunging neckline that was enough to make Evelyn gulp, let alone men.

By the looks of it, this woman was an acquaintance of the wily old fox. She wanted to loosen her grip on Theodore's arm, but a painful pinch stopped her. She glanced down and saw that the wily old fox had his hand over the back of her hand. He was obviously the culprit behind the pinch. She glared at him in anger, but a gentle look glazed his eyes, and she felt a stab in her heart.

His gaze was too lethal.

Stop looking! Stop looking!

Evelyn's heartbeat quickened when the woman with the plunging neckline pointed at her and asked, "Who is this?"

"My girlfriend."

Evelyn thought to herself, "Am I not only his date? When did I become his girlfriend?"

Evelyn was very surprised. However, the woman with the plunging neckline was beyond shocked, and her chest shook even more violently.

"Theodore, when did you get a girlfriend?"

Theodore glanced coldly at her. "Am I required to report to you?"

"No, no, I'm just really surprised." The woman gave an awkward laugh. She asked reluctantly, "Which family is she from?"

"You will know when the time comes." Then, Theodore ignored the woman. He pulled Evelyn to a corner and whispered into her ears, "I have somewhere to go. Stay here and wait for me."

Evelyn nodded her head vigorously. She couldn't wait for him to leave, because she was ravenous and the table next to her was filled with delicious pastries.

After he left, she looked around and figured that nobody was paying attention at her. Just as she was about to reach out, the woman with the plunging neckline smiled and walked toward her. She quickly retracted her hand.

"Hello, I'm Theo's cousin,Charlotte Dean. How do I address you?"

"Evelyn Morgan."

So this woman was the wily old fox's cousin!

No wonder the wily old fox did not warm up to this woman. After all, society forbade close relatives from getting married.

Evelyn felt pity for this cousin.

"Miss Morgan, I really admire you."Charlotte gave Evelyn a once over and scorned. "If it were me, I wouldn't dare show up to a party as classy as this one without any makeup on."

Charlotte's blatant sarcasm embarrassed Evelyn and erased all the sympathy she had for her. When Evelyn saw Theodore walking toward her, she raised her eyebrows and said loudly in a fake, sugary voice, "Actually I don't understand it either. Um, why would Theo prefer a country pumpkin like me over someone as beautiful and stylish as you? But Theo said that I'm his true love, and I'm not allowed to leave him."

"Was Theo drunk when he said this?"Charlotte scoffed.

"Theo."Charlotte spotted Theodore in her peripheral and panicked as she turned around. Evelyn exchanged glances with Theodore and faked a sad voice, as if she were wronged. "Another person just said you and I aren't meant for each other. We might as well break up."

Despite her poor acting skills, he did want her to put on an act. Therefore, he couldn't blame her for thinking on her feet.

If he dared ruin her facade even just a little, she would immediately turn on her heels and leave. Worst case scenario was that the five summon cards would remain.

Theodore saw through Evelyn's act and snickered. Looking atCharlotte, he said in a serious tone, "Don't break up with me, please. You are my woman, and you are perfect for me."

Evelyn looked helpless as she turned toCharlotte and shrugged. "Look at him. I really have no choice."

Theodore pretended not to see through Evelyn's little act. He went up to her, hugged her around the waist, and spoke sweetly, "My dear, don't ever mention breaking up again, okay?"

Charlotte's face paled.

Evelyn could hear the threat in Theodore's words. Annoyed, she wanted to push him away, but he tightened his grip and whispered, his lips touching her ears, "If you don't play along, I'm afraid I have no choice but to kiss you."

Evelyn was taken aback. Then, she pulled away and put her arm around his waist, pouted, and said in a coquettish manner, "Then tell me, do you love me?"

"I do. All my love is for you for the rest of my life, you silly." Theodore looked at her affectionately. Cupping her face, he pecked her lips.

"Oh my God! My first kiss! That wily old fox!" Evelyn thought.

Evelyn jumped, but Theodore locked her tightly in his arms.

Charlotte—who didn't detect their secret fight—could only see their lovers' quarrel and the jealousy was driving her crazy.

Theodore took Evelyn's hand and walked 'sweetly' out of the banquet hall.

"Hey, the show is over. Can I go home now?" Evelyn flicked away Theodore's hand as soon as they left the banquet hall.

That wily old fox! How dare he steal her first kiss?!

"Give me my clothes back."

"You think I enjoy wearing it? Hmph!" Evelyn walked quickly to Room 8088. When he opened the door, she rushed into the room and locked the door. After changing out of the dress under the sheets, she put on her own clothes and headed for the door.

To her surprise, she opened the door to reveal the wily old fox with his arms folded across his chest. He was squinting at her with a look on his face.

An alarm went off in her heart. Evelyn pushed him away so she could leave, but he pulled her back into his arms.
