Chapter 19 Escaping His Evil Grip

"Evelyn, we're here!"

Even before she reached the entrance of her neighborhood, Evelyn could already hear her parents' shouts. She saw them standing in front of a taxi and rode her scooter toward them, asking anxiously in a loud voice, "Dad, Mom, what's wrong?"

"Get into the car first."

Bruce helped Evelyn park her scooter while Dana helped Evelyn to remove her helmet. They moved quickly and stuffed Evelyn into the car at a speed of lightning.

"What the hell is going on?" Evelyn was shocked by her parents' nervousness.

Dana didn't respond to her daughter's words. Instead, she told the driver, "Sir, to the airport."

"Why are we going to the airport?"

Bruce said softly, "Evelyn, we have to leave Arlington immediately."

Evelyn was shocked and nervous. "Why are we leaving Arlington? What is going on?"

Dana looked forward and lowered her voice. "This is what Senior Master Kingsley wanted. He said he would make our life miserable if we don't leave Arlington. The Kingsley family has very high status in Arlington and we cannot afford to challenge him."

"Was it because of last night's scandal?" Evelyn had a body full of cold sweat.

Dana nodded slightly. "He said that he has an arranged marriage for his grandson. You aren't allowed to interfere."

"This is a misunderstanding. There's really nothing going on between Theodore and me."

"No one will believe you, especially not Senior Master Kingsley. He insisted that something is going on between you two. He won't tolerate this and ordered us to leave Arlington immediately." Dana held her daughter's shoulders and looked at her in horror. "Evelyn, if he wanted to be done with us, it would be like crushing three tiny ants. I don't want the three of us to lose our lives!"

Evelyn's face paled.

Was the old man who referred to her as 'little missy' really that terrible?

How did the situation become like this?

Bruce was afraid of scaring his daughter and quickly comforted her. "Don't be afraid. Senior Master Kingsley said that as long as we leave Arlington, he will not make things difficult for us."

Dana nodded. "That's correct. We'll talk after leaving this city. Your father and I have already bought plane tickets back to Tranquilton. We leave in an hour. We'll return to our hometown through Tranquilton."

"Do we have to leave like this?" Although Evelyn was terrified, she was still reluctant to leave Arlington. After all, she had lived here for more than ten years. Moreover, the man she loved the most was here.

"We don't want to leave either, but we don't have a choice!"

"Oh, Morris is still at home. I want to..."

Dana became angry. "At this time, you're still thinking of that stupid piece of plastic? Do you want your father and I to die on the streets?"

"No, I..."

"I warned you a long time ago. If you want to be in a relationship, do it properly. Don't end up in a messy one. Now, not only are you in a messy one, even your life is in danger!" Dana burst into tears and covered her face after she finished scolding her.

Evelyn instantly felt guilty. She quickly grabbed her mother's arm and apologized through her sobs.

Bruce hugged his wife and daughter and said, "Alright, stop talking about these. As long as our family stays together, we can live anywhere we want."

Evelyn blamed herself for the situation and nodded. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore and started to cry.

Dana realized that she had crossed the line with her words. She hugged her daughter with the intention of comforting her, but as a lump formed in her throat, she ended up crying again with her.

"Alright, don't cry. Everything will be better as soon as we leave Arlington." Although Bruce said that, he couldn't take the sadness either and the family of three ended up crying together.

Soon, the cab reached the airport. The three of them wiped away their tears and exited the car. Evelyn's phone rang and her face paled when she saw the words 'Fox Kingsley' on the caller ID.

"Don't answer! Don't answer!" Dana stopped her as if she had seen a ghost. "You must end all ties with him! It would be the end of us if Senior Master Kingsley finds out that you're still in contact with him!"

"Switch off your phone!" Bruce quickly grabbed the phone from his daughter and pressed the power button decisively. The phone turned dark. Yet, he was still not convinced. He then threw the phone card into a trash bin and finally sighed with relief.

"Hurry up, let's go in. It'll be fine after we get on the plane." Dana dragged Evelyn and walked quickly into the airport. Bruce followed behind with quick steps while dragging the luggage with him.

Upon entering the waiting room, Dana and Bruce stared anxiously at the clock display. When it was finally boarding time, they quickly grabbed Evelyn and joined the queue, as if they couldn't wait to get out of this place.

Evelyn's parents got through smoothly, but when it was her turn, the airport staff stopped her and took her aside. "Miss, I'm sorry, but it appears that there's something wrong with your ID. Please come with us and for verification."

"Evelyn! Hey, what's going on? Why aren't you letting my daughter board the plane?" Dana and Bruce asked in a panic.

Evelyn also panicked and grabbed the staff's arm, asking, "No way there's something wrong with my ID. Have you guys made a mistake?"

"You want to leave without paying off the debt?"

Theodore's voice rang from in front of her. Evelyn felt like a lightning bolt had struck her. She looked up in horror and instinctively hovered in front of her parents to protect them.
