Chapter 22 Don't You Dare!

"Are you saying that I can't?" Theodore gave her an evil smirk and leaned toward her. "Do you want to try?"

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Evelyn blushed and exclaimed. "I was talking about the disagreeable terms here! Look at this term!"

She pointed at the agreement and continued, "I don't have any opinion against being intimate in public, but why do we have to sleep on the same bed at night? Nobody will see where we're sleeping at night! Don't tell me you still need your grandpa to tuck you in at night?"

He could hear the teasing in her voice. Theodore wasn't angry. Instead, he asked slowly, "Do you know why Grandpa changed his mind and let you stay?"

"Because you wanted to leave with me. He couldn't bear to see you leave, so he let me stay."

"No."

"No? Then why did he?"

"He let you stay in order to verify if we have a real relationship, other than the marriage certificate. He thinks I married you only to spite him, not out of genuine feelings. If he sees through this façade, he will gladly 'advise' us to file for divorce."

Evelyn asked nervously, "How will he verify it?"

"For example, he'll see if we sleep on the same bed, or if we are intimate at night."

"What?" Evelyn jumped up, hugged her chest to herself, and warned anxiously. "If you dare take the opportunity to take advantage of me, don't blame me for getting upset!"

"Take the opportunity to take advantage of you?" Theodore's eyes fell on her chest and he laughed mockingly. "Normal women have two bundles of cotton at certain places. Without even touching, merely looking at them can leave one with wild imaginations. As for you? Not only do I feel nothing when I lean on them, I even panic at how flat they are. Gee, even if you sleep naked and hug me from the same bed, there's no guarantee that I will get aroused."

"Bah! Shameless skank! First, you took advantage of me, and then you played nice!" Evelyn was angry and shy as she yelled. "If you really panicked because there was nothing there, then why did it take you so long to let go of me?"

"I really didn't feel anything. If you don't believe, then let me show you."

Seeing that Theodore was about to remove his belt, Evelyn was petrified and quickly covered her eyes. She turned around and shouted loudly, "Stop it! Who wants to see your pickled thing? That's disgusting!"

"Pickled thing? I know you are just goading me. I'm not that stupid, nor will I let you succeed."

Evelyn blushed again and turned around slightly. She caught sight of him half-lying on the sofa with his feet resting on the coffee table as he shook them playfully. Knowing that he had played her again, she turned around angrily and asked him with suppressed anger, "How are you going to fool your grandpa?"

"Fool my grandpa over what?" Theodore raised his eyes and looked at her casually.

"Fool your grandpa over the both of us doing that... that intimate thing at night!"

"You don't have to worry about that, I'll think of a way then."

Evelyn pointed at the agreement and said, "It is stated very clearly here. You cannot overstep any boundaries with me. If you don't adhere to the clauses in this agreement, then don't blame me for not cooperating when your grandpa is sick."

Theodore couldn't help but laughing out loud. However, when he saw her bright red face, he didn't tease her anymore. Instead, he changed into a serious expression and said, "Alright. Look again at the details of the agreement carefully. Remember, don't breach the agreement without even realizing it."

Since he responded so seriously, Evelyn went back to reading the agreement carefully, relieved. However, when she saw the line 'the breaching party must compensate the other party with double the amount of the betrothal gift', she jumped in shock again.

The betrothal gift was 2,000,000. Double that amount would be 4,000,000!

It would be impossible for her to pay such an exorbitant amount in case she breached the agreement by accident.

Watching her shaking hands point at the last clause of the agreement, Theodore took the agreement and smiled lightly, saying, "As long as you don't breach the agreement, won't you be fine?"

"But, but..."

"Your parents have already signed, so no 'but's from you."

Only then did Evelyn notice her parents' and Theodore's signatures at the bottom of the agreement. It was obvious that the agreement was already in effect. At once, she panicked even more.

"Don't be so nervous. As long as you put yourself into my shoes and think for me, then there's no way you'll breach the agreement." Theodore calmly put the agreement into his briefcase and stood up slowly. "Alright, you take a rest in the room for now and I'll be in the study room. Later, I'll come up to call you for dinner."

As soon as he finished speaking, he walked straight out of the room.

Hearing the sound of the closing door, Evelyn sat quietly in front of the sofa.

Now that her parents had already signed the agreement, there was no way out for her. All she could do was to cooperate with Theodore until the end of the show.

When she thought of how this home housed Fox Kingsley who was trying to take advantage of her, Ethan who sincerely wanted to kick her out, and Charlotte who disliked everything about her, she felt her head ache, as if she had mistakenly entered a hellhole.

Since she was already here, she might as well take things as they came.

Well...

Her face was still aching from Charlotte's slap. She stood up and walked to the mirror, moved her face to the side, and saw that there were a few obvious scratch marks on her face. The feeling of being wronged washed all over her again. But when she thought of the slap marks on Charlotte's face that were deeper than hers, she felt better all over again.

Well. Although Fox Kingsley had avenged her, that still didn't mean that she should let her guard down with him.

What were they going to do tonight? She didn't even know if he really had a plan to handle his grandpa's 'verification' tonight. Judging by his values, what if...

She didn't dare to think of it anymore. Quickly, she opened her suitcase and found the set of scalpels that Martin had bought for her. She chose a sharp scalpel of the right size, and secretly hid it in the drawer of her bedside table.

Of course, she didn't plan on really hurting Fox Kingsley. She couldn't bear to cause any big trouble. She only wanted to scare him, so that he would be more responsible in his actions.

Meanwhile, as Evelyn was hiding her scalpel, Theodore was in his study room listening to Emerson's thorough report.

"Just like you thought, the two sets of photos from the hotel were indeed taken by one of Senior Master's underlings. However, leaking it onto the internet was really an accident. After the person sent the photos to your grandpa, he made a backup in his computer. He didn't think that a hacker would hack his computer and upload the photos online."

Theodore found this hilarious. "This hacker has nothing better to do?"

"I also think that it's too much of a coincidence. However, to date, I have not found any information on the hacker yet."

"Then don't investigate anymore."

Emerson panicked at the sound of his words and quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, boss. I'm incompetent. I will get it done as soon as possible..."

Theodore waved his hand and said, "It's not that you're incompetent, but the opponent is too strong."

Emerson was taken back for a moment. However, he quickly recovered. "Do you mean that... this whole thing was orchestrated by Senior Master?"

"Other than him, who else in Arlington can contend with me?"

Emerson was puzzled. "Does he not want you to marry Miss Dean? Then why would he let the press make a scandal out of your relationship with Miss Morgan? It seems illogical."

"Do you still remember the incident with Serena Graham?"

"Are you talking about your high-profile announcement to the press about your relationship with Miss Serena ten years ago?" Theodore nodded his head. Yet, Emerson still didn't understand. "Ten years ago, you did that in hopes of building a family with Miss Serena. However, Senior Master clearly doesn't want you to be with Miss Morgan. He even paid a huge sum of money to drive Miss Morgan's family out of the city. So, what's the point of him bribing the press to make a scandal out of this?"

"That old man is trying to warn me that no matter how far along in a relationship I might be with a woman, as long as I'm without his permission, I cannot do as I please. He just didn't expect me to stop Evelyn and her family from leaving. He especially didn't expect me to register and get a marriage certificate with Evelyn. He is very angry today." As soon as Theodore spoke the last sentence, his tone became very relaxed.

Emerson had a moment of revelation. He continued, saying, "Senior Master was angry because he didn't understand the situation. If he knew that you and Miss Dean got legally wedded because of his illness..."

Theodore's eyes turned serious. "I don't want to hear this sentence a second time."

"Yes, I was wrong." Emerson knew that he had overstepped and quickly apologized.

Theodore huffed. "When he's sane, he's the old man I hate. Only when he's sick does he become my grandpa."

"Yes," Emerson said nervously as he wiped his sweat.

Theodore eased and changed the topic. "Remember to take care of the safety of Bruce and his wife at all times."

"Understood. I've already made the necessary arrangements."

"Good. Has the specialist team that is to treat the old man's illness arrived yet?"

"They'll arrive tonight. I have arranged for someone to pick them up from the airport."

"Alright. Go ahead and do your work."

"Yes." Emerson secretly heaved a sigh of relief and quickly walked away.

Theodore stood up slowly, made a pot of tea for himself, and slowly enjoyed it.

His grandpa was not always in the right state of mind. However, when his head was clear, he would make careful arrangements. Theodore knew this very well. Therefore, he knew that the more contact he made with Evelyn, the more his grandpa would notice. However, he didn't mind, because ever since the incident with Serena happened, he had been rumored to be with countless women. As long as he didn't bring them home and angered his grandpa, his grandpa would close one eye.

He just didn't expect his grandpa to go this far just to warn him.

Did Theodore's grandpa think that he could force Theodore to marry the Dean girl? Did his grandpa think that him marrying the daughter of Dean family would lessen his hatred toward Declan and Yvonne?

That old man was confused indeed.

Unless his mother was resurrected from the dead, he would never forgive those two bitches.

Humph!

As he huffed angrily, Theodore's face was filled with disgust.

There was a knock on the door, followed by Charlotte's gentle voice, "Theo, it's time to eat."

Time to eat?

Thinking of Evelyn who was still upstairs, Theodore put down his tea cup, stood up, and headed out of the room. When he opened the door, he saw Charlotte still standing there. He treated her like air and walked right by her.

"Theo!" Charlotte chased after him with half a swollen face. When she met Theodore's cold gaze, she opened her mouth but did not dare to ask the question she had in mind.

When Theodore returned to his room, Evelyn was sorting out the closet. Seeing him enter the room, she stopped and smiled at him. "I'm afraid that someone might get suspicious if I don't keep my clothes inside the closet. I've neatly moved the clothes from this shelf over there. By the way, the shirt I washed for you yesterday is already dry. I've also put it in here."

Theodore pretended to check and said, "Did you spoil my shirt while you were washing it?"

"I took special care to wash it with my shower gel. It wouldn't get ruined! In fact, it smells good."

"Oh?" Theodore took a whiff of his shirt and suddenly hugged Evelyn.

"What is it?" Evelyn exclaimed.

"I have to smell if my shirt has your smell. If it doesn't, it means that you're lying." With that, he leaned over her neck.

"Hey! What are you doing?"

"Do you hate Charlotte?"

She didn't expect Theodore to change the topic. Evelyn was startled and recalled how Charlotte slapped her. Then, she gritted her teeth and said, "I hate her very much!"

"You still hate her after I've helped you vent?"

"That was not enough venting."

"Then do you want me to help you make her angrier?"

"Yes!"

"Close your eyes."

"What?"

"Be good and obey. Close your eyes."

Theodore's seductive voice caused Evelyn to be momentarily absentminded. She instinctively closed her eyes. The next second, she felt something warm against her lips as she fell entirely into his arms.

When she noticed what he was doing, Evelyn realized that she had been tricked and struggled angrily. Instead, he hugged her even tighter and kissed her even deeper...
