Chapter 27 Overflow of Fatherly Love

Evelyn was shocked. "Your grandpa..."

The next second, Theodore had sprung out of the dining room with Evelyn hurriedly following behind him.

By the time she reached the living room, there were people already giving first aid help to Ethan, but she didn't know any of them.

Ethan was now laying on the sofa with his face pale, completely silent. Although Evelyn didn't like Ethan, this scene made her break into a frightful sweat. Evelyn quickly prayed for him to be alright. She was, after all, a kind girl.

"Janny, how is he?" Theodore asked anxiously when he saw the person who was giving emergency treatment straightened slightly.

"Senior Master Kingsley only fainted." The person known as Janny was obviously relieved. She rushed to Daniel and Liam and said, "Bring Senior Master Kingsley to his room to rest."

"Yes."

When Daniel and Liam both stepped forward, Janny turned to the Kingsley family doctor, Connor, and ordered, "Dr. Connor, go and take care of Senior Master for now, I have something to talk to Mr. Kingsley about."

"Okay." Connor responded. Along with the twins, he carefully helped Ethan upstairs.

Theodore followed behind them and stopped after a few steps.

Only then did Evelyn realize that his expression was no better than Ethan's. Somehow, her heart ached for no reason. Of course, the questions in her heart were worse—he clearly cared about his grandpa, yet he always went against his sick grandpa.

"Is Grandpa really okay?"

Only when she heard Charlotte ask the question with her tears did Evelyn remember that she was still there. Since Theodore was there, Evelyn wanted to throw a provocative and defiant glance at her. However, once she turned around and saw Charlotte's disheveled look, she couldn't help it but laughing out loud.

Charlotte didn't understand why she was laughing and thought she was taking pleasure out of Ethan's fainting. She was instantly annoyed and scolded, "Grandfather has already been ill. How can you laugh out loud? Do you even deserve to be called a human?"

After scolding, her gaze turned to Theodore. She wanted to check Theodore's attitude toward what Evelyn had done. She had seen with her own eyes and knew that Theodore was anxious about his grandpa's fainting.

However, Theodore didn't say anything. He only turned to Janny and said, "Let's go to the study room." Then, he pulled Evelyn with him and walked toward his study room on the first floor.

Janny immediately followed him.

As soon as they reached the door of the study room, Evelyn turned around and looked at Charlotte, who looked confused and still stayed where she was. Evelyn then made a funny face at her and said, "You look like a wreck".

Charlotte finally responded with a shrill scream. She covered her face and rushed to the bathroom, and Evelyn heartily laughed.

After they entered the study room, she heard Janny talk to Theodore about all the relevant treatments for Ethan. Only then she realized that Janny was the expert that Theodore had specially hired to treat his grandpa's illness.

After that, Janny reminded him once again, "It's fine when he's normal, but when Senior Master get any symptom, you must calm him down! Or else, we'll waste all the progress we've made."

"I know."

"In that case, I'll go upstairs to see Senior Master."

After Janny left, Evelyn couldn't help but got close to Theodore and said, "Hey, it's obvious that you care about your grandpa, so why do you pretend like you can't stand him?"

"Never ask this question again."

Seeing that Theodore was impatient, Evelyn made an 'hmm' sound and pouted her lips.

"Did you hear what Janny said?"

"I heard it."

"Let's go."

"Where to?"

"The study room."

Evelyn laughed out loud and asked, "Are you crazy? Aren't you in the study room?"

Theodore glanced at her and said, "The study room upstairs." Then, he dragged her out of the room.

"Hey! Slow down, my leg hurts!"

"What's the matter?" Theodore instantly stopped and looked at her legs.

Evelyn pointed at her thigh with an upset look. "What else if not from you pinching me too hard last night? It hurt so much when I walked. I was even misunderstood and ridiculed by Charlotte."

"Misunderstood?"

"Yeah, she thought I couldn't walk because we, erm... had something going on last night." Evelyn couldn't continue any further.

Theodore found her shy look funny. "Because we were being too intimate last night?"

Seeing the mockery behind his smile, Evelyn was very annoyed. "How dare you smile after being the culprit behind all these?"

"Isn't this the result we want?" Theodore's mood became better at once. He held her hand again and walked out of the door, but at a much slower pace this time.

Although his words made sense, Evelyn still couldn't help but cursing him under her breath.

After they went upstairs, she discovered that Theodore and Ethan each had a study room on both floors. When she saw the study room and noted that it was even bigger than her own house, she couldn't help but exclaim at the luxurious life of the rich.

After they entered the study room, Theodore let go of her hand and ignored her. He sat down at his desk, opened his laptop, and got busy on his own.

Evelyn looked at her watch and saw that it was already 11 o'clock in the morning. She gave up on making it to work and felt bored again. She took out her phone to play some games, but then her phone was out of battery and had turned off. She went back to her room to get her charger to charge her phone. After that, she turned on the TV and settled on a variety show. She retrieved a packet of sunflower seeds from her bag to snack on, and ate them while watching TV.

She was curious about the arguments among the Kingsley family members, but the main reason she was here in the Kingsley manor was to help cure Ethan's illness. Everything else was none of her business, so she was too lazy to think about it.

"The weather is so good today. Why don't you go shopping?"

Evelyn jumped in shock when she heard Ethan's voice. She quickly turned around and looked at him.

"Has your money run out?" Ethan stepped forward and gently held her hand. "If you have finished your money, why didn't you tell Daddy? Tell me your bank account number and I'll transfer it to you now."

"What?" Seeing that Ethan was a totally different person from the fierce and angry man he was, Evelyn was stunned. She then responded timidly, "I've lost my bank card and haven't gotten a replacement yet."

After the lesson she learned last time, she dared not accept Ethan's money anymore.

"It doesn't matter, it's the same as taking Daddy's bank card." Ethan turned around and ordered the butler, George Klein, who was standing by the door, "Bring my card here."

"Yes, Senior Master."

"Hey! You don't have to get it. Um, I don't feel like shopping today." However, Evelyn failed to stop George.

"Keep it then. Even if you don't go shopping today, you can still go tomorrow. As a girl, you should dress up well." With a smile, Ethan pulled her into a sitting position. He saw that she was eating sunflower seeds and immediately grabbed a handful.

Evelyn knew he loved eating sunflower seeds and quickly pushed the whole bag of seeds in front of him. Although she knew that he was ill again, her lack of understanding toward him, in addition to his previous scary and fierce look, left her clueless as to what to say to him. So, she could only pretend to be engrossed by the television.

"Little missy."

"Yes?" When Evelyn turned her head, she saw Ethan push a small dish toward her in a flattering manner.

The plate was filled with peeled sunflower seeds!

Ethan was surprised to see that she wasn't moving. He asked, puzzled, "Why aren't you eating? Don't you really like it when Daddy peel sunflower seeds for you to eat?"

When he said this, his expression suddenly dimmed. "Are you still angry with Daddy?"

"N-No." Thinking of Janny's advice, Evelyn quickly thought of an excuse to coax him with.

"I'm not angry with you. I just can't bear eating them."

"Silly girl, I will peel more for you after you finish eating them." Ethan laughed happily and put a small spoon in her hand. His voice and gaze were as gentle as a lake. "I love seeing you eat."

Seeing Ethan's overbearing and fatherly love, Evelyn couldn't help but soften her heart. When she started playing the role of little missy, she could feel Ethan's love for his daughter. However, she didn't expect him to spoil his daughter like this.

The difference between when he was and wasn't ill was like fire and ice to her.

As he pushed the dish in front of her while staring at her, she felt like he looked particularly like a kid who had done his homework and was waiting for the praise of an adult. Evelyn became more relaxed and touched, and no longer minded. She took the dish, scooped the sunflower seeds with the spoon, and put them into her mouth, one after another.

Ethan laughed happily. Then, he lowered his head and continued to peel the sunflower seeds.

Because the sound from the TV was a little too loud and the sofa's back was facing the room door, the both of them didn't notice three men standing at the door.

"Alright, let's not disturb them. We'll go to the study room." Theodore pulled Zion Lopez, who was already halfway into the room, and gently closed the door.

Zion and Eric were his childhood best friends.

As Zion followed him into the study room with an excited look on his face, he laughed at Theodore and said, "Bro, where did you find such a gentle, beautiful, and understanding nurse? Introduce her to me after this, I fancy her."

Slap!

"Ouch, why did you hit me?" Zion glared at Theodore with an upset look.

On the other hand, Eric was laughing out loud.

Theodore rolled his eyes at Eric. Then, he glanced at Zion, saying, "Do you want to cuckold me?"

Zion was stunned for a while. After that, he laughed and said, "Bro, we're brothers, not gay partners. How would I cuckold you by going for a girl?"

"If you go for my woman, aren't you cuckolding me?"

"Woman? Bro, you fancy that nurse too? Haha, no wonder we're brothers, we've got the same taste. Well, although you're my big bro, I can't say the same when it comes to relationships. We'll fight fairly. Ouch! Bro, you..."

"If you dare speak disrespectfully of your sister-in-law, don't blame me for breaking your legs."

"Sister-in-law? Bro, don't scare me!" Zion didn't believe it.

"We've registered and have a marriage certificate. Does it look like a joke?"

Zion's brain couldn't cope with the information and he turned around to give Eric a questioning look. When Eric nodded his head, he was utterly shocked. "So the gossips on the internet are true? But isn't this a little too fast? It's been only a few days since I last saw you, hasn't it?"

The internet was always full of Theodore's scandals. As his buddies, they were usually too lazy to read them.

"Do you want me to fetch the marriage certificate to show you ?"

"Yes, yes, yes!"

"I'll let you see it later." After seeing Evelyn spend time with his sick grandpa, Theodore's mood had improved.

"Oh no." Zion heaved out a long sigh. "I finally met someone eye-catching, but she turned out to be my sister-in-law."

Eric mocked him and said, "Looks like you have no choice but to stay single for the rest of your life."

"Alright, back to business."

As soon as Theodore said that, Zion and Eric both switched to their serious expressions and fixed their attention on Theodore.
