"Hey!"
"Be careful!"
Theodore held Evelyn and turned around just in time, blocking the stack of things behind him. When he turned back around, Emerson had already picked the things up from the ground and handed them to Theodore while he lowered his eyes.
Seeing that it was a stack of photos, Evelyn looked at them curiously. When she realized what the photos were clearly about, her expression instantly changed.
It turned out they were photos of her eating with Martin and Fred in the private room!
In every single photo, she was smiling brightly and sitting very closely with them. It looked like they were very intimate.
"W-Why are there such photos? "Except for that one time Fred helped her up when Theodore appeared, she had always kept her distance with them while sitting at the same table!
"With the facts and proofs, do you still have the cheek to argue?" Ethan sneered.
"I'm not arguing. By the way, there must be a problem with the angle of these shots! The person who took these photos obviously had bad intentions. Kin... Theo, you must believe in me!"
Although Evelyn wanted so badly to leave this place that was filled with troubles, she knew only Theodore could ask her to leave. If she was kicked out by Ethan with such an excuse, Theodore would definitely not spare her. So she desperately fought for herself.
"Photos will never tell lies." Charlotte's low voice rang from behind Ethan.
This woman had indeed a pure desire to stir up trouble.
Evelyn glared at her angrily. Then, she went head to head with Charlotte and bellowed, "I didn't lie too!"
"Poo! There isn't even a lie detector here."
"You..." Evelyn suddenly realized something and her face flushed red from the anger. She pointed at Charlotte and yelled, "It must be you behind all of this! You are such a troublemaker! You..."
"You're the one committing adultery outside, yet you're here making lame arguments?" Ethan interrupted them coldly. "The one that you committed adultery with was SkyForge Group's worst rival! What do you have in mind?"
"Worst rival?" Evelyn's eyes widened with shock.
She was just a young girl who had just stepped into society. Her understanding of the Cosmic Ventures and SkyForge Group was only limited to what she heard of them. She didn't know at all about the grievances between the two of them.
At this moment, Charlotte said faintly, "Maybe she's even a corporate spy sent by Cosmic Ventures!" Her words made Ethan's eyes turn cold.
This is indeed a cruel accusation!
Evelyn, who didn't want Theodore to misunderstand, quickly defended herself and said, "I've never dealt with people from the Cosmic Ventures. This is the first time I met Fred!"
"Fred? Haha, you address him so intimately." Charlotte immediately laughed out loud.
"I guessed it right. You're Fred Carter's people!" Ethan's complexion darkened, and it looked scary.
"Fred Carter?" Evelyn was stunned.
H-His surname is Carter? I clearly remembered him introducing himself as Fred!
Oh my God, could it be...
"You're telling me you didn't know Fred's surname is Carter? Miss Morgan, you're really humorous." Charlotte laughed with exaggeration that even her makeup was falling off from her skin.
After seeing several bodyguards that were standing behind Theodore were frowning, Evelyn knew Charlotte wasn't lying, and her back broke out in a cold sweat.
She really didn't understand why Fred had introduced himself like that.
"Could it be that Fred and Charlotte set me up?" Evelyn thought.
But didn't they just say Cosmic Ventures and SkyForge Group were the worst rivals?
Is that why there are no 'eternal enemies'?
Before she could clear her head, Ethan impatiently scolded again, "Theo, this woman is a time bomb for SkyForge Group! I order you to kick this time bomb out of the Kingsley family immediately! The farther, the better!"
Ethan roared while using his walking stick to pound the ground forcefully. Every pound made Evelyn shudder with shock, leaving her more and more confused.
"It was only a normal meal. How did I become a corporate spy?" she thought.
"Theodore, did you hear what I said?" As Theodore showed no response, Ethan's anger blazed even more. "At this point, can you still not see this woman's true colors?"
"I'm really not a spy! This is really the first time I saw Fred... Carter." Evelyn was very afraid that Theodore would believe these slanders about her. She held his arm and explained weakly, "He really introduced himself as Fred. I had not dealt with him before. You must believe in me!"
Although she hadn't stepped foot in the business world, she already knew how scary a corporate spy could be. She had every right to believe that once Theodore believed in his grandpa's words, her entire family would never have a good life. The severity of the consequences was nowhere as bad as being kicked out by Ethan.
"You think Theo would be that stupid to believe in what you've said?"
"I do!"
Theodore's loud and firm words made Ethan entirely shocked. He didn't expect Theodore, who had been keeping quiet the whole time, would say such a thing once he spoke up.
Ethan couldn't help but get angry, and he asked in a serious tone, "Theodore, do you know you're betting on the future of SkyForge Group by believing in her? Aren't you afraid that she will blow you up into pieces?"
Evelyn, who was still feeling warm by Theodore's trust, quickly answered when she heard his words, "I won't..."
"Shut up! There's no place for you to speak now!"
Evelyn was upset and bit her lips. She then gazed pitifully again at Theodore whom she had secretly praised him for his 'intelligence' countless times in her heart.
Theodore patted her gently on the back of her hand and responded calmly to his grandpa's words, "She can't be a corporate spy with her intelligence."
What?
D-Didn't his words have a derogatory sense?
She then saw Charlotte's face was filled with mockery using the corner of her eyes. Evelyn was speechless as she looked back at Theodore again, annoyed.
Is it wise to help her out by using such a method?
Ethan pounded his walking stick loudly to the ground again. "I would rather wrong one person than let her go! I will not tolerate putting SkyForge Group's existence in any kind of danger!"
Theodore curled the corner of his mouth and looked at him. Then, he hugged Evelyn's shoulders and said softly, "It's late, let's get back to the house and rest."
As he saw Theodore forcefully taking Evelyn into the house, Ethan took two steps backward as he stood in the middle of the gate and yelled, "Theodore! How dare you take my words so lightly?"
Charlotte quickly followed and walked over with him as she stood with him together in the middle of the gate. She looked at Evelyn with a demonstrating look on her face.
Theodore gestured Evelyn to take a step forward and said, "You're well aware whether she's a danger or not. All right, Grandpa, I'm very tired. I'm done playing games. Let it go."
"What do you mean?" Ethan's complexion darkened.
"I was the one who agreed on letting Evelyn have a meal with her friends. I had also promised to go with her. I was only late for a few minutes due to the heavy traffic. Next time, let the person have some more time to edit the photos so that they would look more realistic." Theodore took two more steps and then he paused again. "Another thing, please don't underestimate Evelyn's intelligence next time. This is a humiliation to her. Don't think every woman is as stupid as the ones around you."
After understanding what he meant, Charlotte immediately blushed, but she didn't dare to argue back.
There was an unnatural look on Ethan's face. After seeing Theodore holding Evelyn's hand and walking past him, he made one last try and said, "Theodore, if something goes wrong, don't blame me for not reminding you!"
Theodore didn't look back and only responded softly, "I will be responsible for the decisions I make."
"Well!" Ethan looked at their backs and bellowed furiously. "I want to see how much responsibility you can take! Also, I want to see how long you can protect this woman!"
"Then, I thank you for spending time and hard work to look for something to use against us." After Theodore finished talking, he went upstairs with Evelyn as both of them disappeared up the stairs.
"Grandpa." Charlotte looked sadly at Ethan.
Ethan sighed and said, "We didn't have enough preparation for today's matter. You have to take this as a lesson so that you can kick this woman out with full confidence next time."
"But you have seen how Theo showed partiality for this woman. Even if we have evidence against that woman, Theo will not allow us to kick her out."
"If this woman really does something wrong and he insists on siding with her, I will use this as the reason to remove his inheritance according to his mother's last words. Then, I will work together with the board of directors to remove his position as the CEO of SkyForge Group. By then, he will be left with nothing. He, who is used to living a respectable rich life, will certainly be unable to survive a few days of poor, hard life and come to me to admit his mistakes. He wouldn't dare to go against me after that."
"He will marry whomever you want him to marry then?" Charlotte's eyes brightened with excitement.
"That's for sure." Ethan raised his eyebrows as if such a day was just around the corner.
"Grandpa, there's something I still don't understand. How much does his mother's legacy worth? If you remove his position as the CEO of SkyForge Group, he wouldn't have any income. With that little sum of legacy, it would reduce little by little, and..."
"It's not a small sum of money. Besides his mother's dowry, there is even the compensation I tried to make up for all these years to his mother and him because of Declan's matter." Ethan sighed again. "With Theo's strong business mind, that sum of money is enough for him to rise again and be at the top in Arlington."
"Why did you save so much money for him and his mother in the first place? Turns out it's all your fault after all." Charlotte grumbled inwardly. Of course, she wouldn't show any trace of it on her face.
In Theodore's room, he walked to the side of the sofa as he removed his coat and simply threw it to one side. Then, he sat down, slowly washed the teapot, filled it with water, boiled the water, and made some tea.
While seeing his blank face, Evelyn was even more nervous. After hesitating for a while, she then approached him and spoke in a low tone, "About today, I..."
"From now on, unless I'm with you, you're not allowed to meet your friends when you're alone."
She was stunned by his cold voice. She hesitated and asked timidly, "Is it okay if it's a girl?"
"No."
"Not even friends of the same gender??"
Theodore was pouring his tea for the first time as he glanced at her impatiently.
"I understand." She sat at the side of the sofa sullenly. After pondering for a while, she couldn't help but explain, "I really didn't know something like this would happen today, but you cannot blame Martin, he..."
"Don't you mention, 'Martin', this word in front of me ever again! Don't go meet up with him again!"
"I've already moved on from him!" Evelyn immediately stood up.
"Since you have moved on, why are you being so emotional?"
"I..." She quickly sat down and wanted to continue explaining. Her phone rang and she quickly fished it out from her pocket. When she saw 'Martin' flashed on her phone screen, she was instantly dumbfounded.
"Pick it up and put it on speakerphone."
"Okay." She took a deep breath and answered the call shakily. Then, she tried her best to greet in a normal tone, "Martin?"
"Evelyn, where are you? I want to see you."
