Chapter 46 Falling into The Love Trap for The First Time

"What-What is it?" Evelyn looked at him nervously.

"My phone number, write a thousand times. I'll come back and check for it tonight."

As it turned out, he was asking about this.

Evelyn heaved a sigh of relief and asked with a smile, "Let me do a memory playback for you. It's 1..."

Theodore glanced at her faintly. "Did I ask you to memorize it? I want you to copy it down."

"There's no need to copy it down if I can memorize it. I..."

"Then I'll give your parents a call."

"No, no! You promised me not to disturb them over trivial things!" When he already fished out his phone, there was no more space for negotiation. Evelyn's imposing manner instantly turned weak and she timidly grabbed his hands. "I'll write. I'll write, okay? A thousand times, not one time less."

"Very good. Let me check it tonight." Theodore put his phone back into his pocket. Then, he hummed a little tune as he walked out the door.

This Beast Theodore!

Evelyn glared at the back of him angrily. While she was cursing at him in silence, she had no choice but to look for some papers and a pen.

Sitting down at the study table, she would curse every time she finished writing his phone number.

Luckily, the phone number only consisted of a bunch of digits. She was holding three pens in her hand at the same time, and was writing really fast. Without even realizing it, she had already completed writing a few pages. She put down her pens when she thought she had written enough. Then, she started counting how many times she had the phone number written down.

At this moment, her phone rang. Seeing that it was Wendy on the line, she quickly put down her pens and answered the call.

"Hey, guess where I'm at."

"Where?" Evelyn was almost dizzy from all the phone numbers, and was lazy to think.

"Haha, you can't guess it? I'm at the entrance of your workplace."

Evelyn was really surprised. "What are you doing at the forensic lab? Did something happen again?"

"Look at how nervous you are. How can something happen so easily? I don't have any classes in the afternoon, and I have nothing to do. I realize I've never been to your workplace so I came all the way to hang out with you. Why don't you hurry up and pick me up?"

"Oh." Evelyn finally sighed in relief. "But I have something to do today, so I didn't go to work."

"What? Alright, tell me where you are now. I'll come and see you."

"I'm at..." Evelyn initially wanted to mention Theodore's house address. After some thinking, she felt that it wasn't so convenient and asked vaguely, "Is there anything urgent that you want to see me for?"

"That... It's nothing. I just want to see you and have a talk. Just some light chat. Hey, where are you actually? Ah? Is it because you're with Young Master Kingsley, so it's inconvenient for you to see me?"

"No, no. We're not together." Evelyn had almost guessed what it was about. Looking at her watch, she refrained herself from laughing and said, "Alright, we'll meet up at Sweet Oasis later."

"Woah, it's been so long since I dined at Sweet Oasis! Okay, I'll be there in a minute, see you later!"

After she ended the call, Evelyn placed the written pages of Theodore's phone number on his study table. Then, she changed her clothes and left the room with her bag.

To tell the truth, when she walked downstairs, she was really worried that she would run into Ethan. Because if she did, she would have to do a full explanation. So, she moved with very light steps and peeked around her as she walked. When she saw that he wasn't in the living room downstairs, she ran out of the house.

"Mistress, you're not feeling well?"

Hearing Mark's voice, she instantly paused and turned around, asking in surprise, "You didn't send Kings... Theo to work?"

Mark shook his head lightly. "Boss was worried that you might feel unwell later, and asked me to stay at home. Mistress, you..."

"Oh, I'm not feeling unwell. I just want to go out to run some errands." As Evelyn was talking, she took another glance into the house as she was afraid that Ethan or Charlotte would show up unexpectedly.

"Oh, I'll send you there. Wait for me to drive the car over here."

"Hey..." She initially wanted to say that there was no need for that, but when she saw Mark already running to the garage and knew that she couldn't stop him, she didn't say anything more, and stood where she was.

After all, she was just going to see Wendy, and wasn't afraid to be tailed by someone.

After a while, Mark drove the car to her, and sent her to the first floor's south entrance of the Heavenly Shopping Center according to her request.

Sweet Oasis was adjacent to the south entrance. Wendy, who had reached first, hurriedly ran to her when she saw Evelyn getting out of the car. At the same time, she waved and greeted Mark.

Mark rolled down the car window, and nodded with a smile in response while telling Evelyn, "Mistress, I'll be waiting for you at the car park."

Evelyn nodded and then walked into Sweet Oasis with Wendy.

"It's my treat today. Order whatever you want to eat." Wendy, who had already sat down, generously passed the dessert shop's menu to Evelyn.

"You're being so solicitous. You must be hiding some evil intentions." Despite what Evelyn said, she received the menu with her hands, and ordered some desserts from the waiter.

Wendy smiled cunningly. "If you knew that I have evil thoughts, why did you order so many? Aren't you worried that I'll do something to you? Well, well!"

Evelyn had a look of disdain on her face. "Bah! If I can't see through your acts, then I'm not fit to be your best friend."

Wendy came to a realization, and her face flushed red. Her eyes even flickered, but she still said stubbornly, "Do tell me what kind of ideas I have in mind."

"Last night, after Zion sent you back home, he had given me a call, and we talked for hours."

Wendy immediately straightened her back. "What did he say?"

Evelyn didn't answer her as she glanced calmly at the counter. "He said... Hey, the desserts are here."

"What did he say? Tell me quickly." Seeing that Evelyn keep guessing, Wendy really couldn't take it anymore. She went over and sat beside Evelyn. Leaning closely to Evelyn, she pleaded coyly, "My dear Evelyn, hurry up and tell me."

"Look at your silly self." Evelyn smiled and poked her head.

"I hate you." Wendy pretended to grab her hands. "Didn't you look like this too when you were secretly admiring Martin? Tell me quickly, tell me quickly please. If you don't tell me, I'll really get angry. Don't blame me if I do something to your Morris then."

Previously, she would always mess with Morris if Evelyn denied her when she needed Evelyn's help but. Then, Evelyn, who had always cherished Morris, would have no choice but to agree to her demands. Because of this, she always got upset whenever Wendy pulled this card.

"Morris isn't at my dorm now." When she saw Wendy turning listless and was looking at her with pitiable eyes, Evelyn couldn't bear it, and responded with a laugh. "I'm just joking with you. Zion had indeed called me, but we didn't talk for long. He only informed me that he had sent you back home safely."

"Oh." Wendy shamelessly leaned toward her. "Tell me more about Zion."

"Oh, you're calling him 'Zion' already?"

"I hate you. You're making fun of me again. Aren't you calling him that too?" When she saw that Evelyn was still laughing, Wendy glared at her and snorted, "Evelyn, besides blackmailing me, making fun of me, laughing at me, are there other things that you can do? Aren't you a little incompetent as a best friend? Do you remember that time when I put my heart and soul to make you and Martin work? If you had listened to me, and mustered the courage to confess to him, you wouldn't..."

"Okay, okay, stop talking already. I know I'm in the wrong, okay? I will now tell you every single detail I know about Zion, alright?"

Wendy threw her a look as if saying "that's right". Then, she sighed regretfully. "That time when you were too shy to confess to Martin, that was already one of your biggest regrets. I didn't expect you to be so lucky. It's like you lost something good but found something better. You've become the mistress of the Kingsley family. My luck has always been bad. That's why I'll always grab the opportunity for myself whenever I see something I want. Even if I couldn't get what I fight for, at least I would not have any regrets. I realize that Zion and I have many interests and hobbies in common. I'm really happy when I'm talking to him. I feel that this is a good start, that's why I want to know more about him."

Sensing her best friend's seriousness, Evelyn felt her heart sunk as she initially wanted to throw more jokes at Wendy. After being quiet for some time, she explained weakly with an apologetic look, "Wendy, I'm sorry. Actually, I've only met Zion a few times. Besides knowing that he is the vice CEO of the SkyForge Group, I don't know anything else."

"Then you can help me ask about him. I've heard that he and the Young Master Kingsley are best buddies. You are Young Master Kingsley's wife. It shouldn't be a problem asking about this."

"This..." Evelyn paused and then asked, "Are you simply having interests toward Zion, or is it because of his background?"

"Am I a materialistic person?"

Looking at Wendy with an earnest look on her, Evelyn shook her head seriously.

Usually, Wendy was silly. She especially liked paying attention to gossip involving the rich. She even liked to discuss the rich and always expressed her interests in rich, handsome and tall men. However, Evelyn knew that this was all surface talk. When it came to relationships, her best friend was actually a very serious person who wouldn't give in easily. It was just that Evelyn didn't expect that it took so long for her best friend to find someone that she was interested in, and now it turned out to be Theodore's buddy.

She didn't know much about Zion, but she understood Theodore. She knew that Theodore was someone who didn't care about relationships. As the saying went, birds of a feather flock together. She was afraid that Zion and Theodore were the same kind of people, and was worried that her best friend might get hurt in the future.

Even if Zion and Theodore weren't the same type of people, she was still worried. Zion would treat her and Wendy so well in the future. Was it because Evelyn was Theodore's wife now? If Theodore and she parted ways in the future, she would have no ties with Zion. Would it still be possible for Zion and Wendy to be together?

At this moment, she felt extremely regretful for bringing Wendy to Zion's birthday party, but she didn't dare to speak out her concerns. She couldn't let her best friend know about the contract marriage between her and Theodore. So, she replied vaguely, "I'll ask around when I get back."

"Okay." Wendy had no idea of the things that Evelyn was thinking about. Her face was all smiles and filled with hope.

For a moment, Evelyn had nothing to say and casually looked at her watch.

"It's still early. Young Master Kingsley definitely hasn't got off from work yet. Why don't we shop around Heavenly Shopping Center? I just got paid yesterday, and I want to buy some new clothes. I'm ready for the 'war of love', and for a good 'counterattack', I must wear something prettier."

Speaking of buying clothes, Evelyn remembered the VIP card that Theodore had given to her, and took it out. "I have the discount card for Heavenly Shopping Center."

Wendy's eyes brightened. "What are the things that can have their prices discounted? How many percent off?"

"I think everything can be discounted, but I don't know how much will be discounted."

"This is the special VIP gold card!" the waiter who passed by answered in envy. "Our boss has the silver card. He can get a 10% discount. I remember my boss saying that the VIP silver card holders can enjoy a 20% discount. You're a VIP gold card holder, so you can probably get a 50% discount."

"50% discount?" Wendy looked like she was on stimulants. She hastily settled the bill, and pulled Evelyn out of the dessert shop without another word. She ran straight into the fifth floor of Heavenly Shopping Center, which was filled with clothes and jewelry.

Evelyn was afraid to let her best friend down, and gently reminded her, "The waiter said that you'll probably get a 50% discount. He didn't guarantee it."

"Even if it's a 30% discount, it's still a great deal! Hurry up and help me pick something out!"

"It's only minutes past four. The shops close at ten. There's no need to rush."

"How could I not rush? What if Young Master Kingsley calls you, and you'll have to go back? Then I won't be able to buy it!"

Evelyn's mood turned sour at the mention of Theodore. However, she knew that her best friend was right. She didn't want to spoil her best friend's day, so she said dryly, "It's no big deal. I can just give you the card."

"This is a special VIP gold card. It's got your name on it. I definitely can't use it! Hey, that shop's clothes look really nice. Let's go take a look." As Wendy finished talking, she left Evelyn and ran quickly into the shop.

Looking at her being so impatient, Evelyn smiled and shook her head. Just as she was about to follow Wendy, she turned around instinctively when she heard the sudden shouts of vicious remarks.

The woman, who was impeccably well dressed, had her hands on her waist and hurled vicious insults. The one who was being scolded was a middle-aged man with glasses. He was sweating all over and was wearing an aged working uniform. The man looked utterly nervous as he lowered his head and apologized repeatedly.

"If you can't do something this trivial properly, why don't you just die? You are fucking useless. Even a pig's brain is better than yours! You can't even be compared to animals. You're not fit to be a..."

"What is going on?" Evelyn interrupted the woman's vicious remarks coldly, as she recognized that man.
