Chapter 47 Boss Around

That woman was scolding angrily but got cut by Evelyn. Seeing Evelyn in an simple outfit and looking pissed off, the woman rolled her eyes disdainfully. "What? So you decided to play the heroine? Nowadays, it takes money to stick your nose in other people’s business."

The man in glasses looked at Evelyn in shock. He then turned his gaze away and continued apologizing humbly to the woman.

Evelyn didn't even bother looking at the woman and turned to the man in glasses. "What actually happened?"

When he didn’t respond, she knew that he couldn't recognize her, so she immediately introduced herself, "I'm Wendy's classmate."

"Oh. Thank you, but this is no big deal. I can handle it." The man in glasses wiped away his sweat, and pretended nothing serious had happened as he forced a smile.

"Ugh, such big talk like it's really no big deal! It's 50,000 we're talking about!" the woman mocked him sarcastically.

"Madam, let's go inside to discuss it."

"Stop right there!" the woman ruthlessly shouted at the man in glasses who tried to enter the shop. "You're thinking of entering my shop while having dirt all over you? Don't you know all my shop ever sells are luxury women clothing? One piece is already ruined, and now you want to cheat me again?"

"I will compensate you for that. Can we just go inside and discuss it?" The man in glasses desperately patted the dirt off him while responding in a pleading tone. It was obvious that he didn't want to drag Evelyn into this matter.

The woman couldn't care for his dignity. She spread out her palms. "If you have the money, then compensate me now. Why are you trying to put up a front?"

"I already gave you my words that I will compensate you. You have to let me go home to get the money."

"Oh please, as if I would believe that you're going back home to borrow some money. You'll definitely run away. By then, where can I actually find you? In hell?" the woman continued speaking vulgarly again.

The man in glasses was instantly red from his face all the way to his neck. He rubbed his hands together, looking really helpless.

Evelyn, who had figured out the entire situation from their conversations, couldn't stand it any longer and stepped forward, arguing, "Can you please talk more politely? Stop hurling insults all the time."

The woman sneered, and placed a hand on her waist as she reached out to Evelyn with the other. "You want me to be polite? Sure! As long as you compensate for the lost dress according to its price! It's 50,000."

Evelyn was astonished. "50,000? What kind of dress could be this expensive?"

"Don't you know that Heavenly Shopping Center's fifth floor sells only luxury goods?"

"Even though it's a luxury item, it doesn't have to be that expensive, does it? It's 50,000. Don't you dare try to take advantage of..."

"You're accusing me of using this chance to scam him?" The woman scanned Evelyn from head to toe again and sneered, "Little girl, look at you dressed up so poorly. You clearly aren't someone who can afford luxury goods. You just want to enjoy looking at them by visiting the fifth floor shops that are full of premium items. How dare you pretend to be an expert here? Aren't you afraid of embarrassing yourself?"

"You..." Evelyn's flushed in anger.

"Not conceded?" The woman laughed arrogantly. "Don't you know you had 'unaffordable' stamped on your poor forehead?"

"Stop looking down on others!"

"Don't expect others to think highly of you just by those empty words coming out of your mouth. If you have the capability, you can help Vince Moxley to compensate for that 50,000 now."

Evelyn felt disheartened as soon as she heard what the woman said. In her purse, besides the bank card of hers that had a few hundreds in it and 10,000 in cash given by Theodore earlier for her daily expenses. She only had the VIP gold card that could be used for discounts, but not as a credit card.

If she had known that she would encounter something this upsetting, she would have asked for a credit card from him as a way to defend herself.

"You go first, I can handle it." Vince Moxley, the man in glasses, knew that this woman had a sharp tongue, and didn't want Evelyn to be hurt by her remarks. He quickly nudged her away from them.

The woman, sensing Evelyn’s vulnerability, grew more smug. She deliberately took two steps toward Evelyn and mocked, "Little girl, let me kindly give you a piece of advice. The clothes on the fifth floor are best to be looked at, not to be touched. A clumsy peasant like you will easily damage them just by touching them. By then, since you won't be able to afford the compensation, you'll only implicate your mother for accompanying you to sell yourselves in Eclipse Club."

Wendy had rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion. She heard what the woman said just in time, and was instantly furious. She immediately fired back, "So the money you used to open this shop is all from your family selling their bodies in Eclipse Club? Sure enough, this is the era where the poor can be laughed at, but those who sell their bodies wouldn't. No wonder you’re so comfortable shouting about how your whole family sells their bodies!"

The woman was enraged. Placing her hands on her waist, she pointed at Wendy and scolded, "You bitch, try saying that one more time! See if I'll tear up your bloody mouth!"

Wendy didn't even flinch. "You keep talking about Eclipse Club. Doesn't this mean that you are very familiar with it?"

"Stop it, please! You guys, please leave quickly." Vince already saw two muscular men walking out of the shop. Terrified, he forcefully pushed the two of them away.

"Vince Moxley, this will be on your account. See how I'm going to deal with you!"

"Vince, she's threatening you!"

"It's nothing. I can handle it. Quickly leave."

The look on Vince's face seemed like he was on the verge of crying, and reminded Evelyn of the time when she was bullied in the Clothing World yesterday. Looking at the woman standing in front of her who was acting even more arrogantly than the owner of the Clothing World, she felt upset and angry.

Suddenly, she remembered her status, and felt that she couldn't lay low any longer. She immediately held her head up, and walked past the both of them when Vince was pulling Wendy away.

When she was facing the woman, she said in a serious tone, "In business, we strive to bring wealth in a peaceful manner. Is there anyone who does business by deceiving others and looking down on people like you?"

The woman snorted loudly. "A poor peasant like you thinks you can talk business with me? Which one of the clothes can you afford to buy?"

"Indeed I cannot afford buying it." When she saw the woman laughing even more loudly, Evelyn then continued speaking faintly, "But do you believe that I can shut down your shop?"

"Shut down my shop?" The woman laughed out loud like she had heard the greatest joke. Then, she clapped her hands in an exaggerated manner, facing all directions. "Everyone come and take a look at this. This woman said she wants to close my shop down."

The shop owner next to them, who had been watching the commotion all along, couldn't help but laugh. "Who does she think she is? She dares to speak so boldly without any shame."

Wendy glanced at her and provoked, "Care to test that yourself?"

"It's none of my business." The shop owner next to them immediately took two steps back as she didn't want to get herself into any trouble. However, the woman obviously didn't take them seriously as she sneered arrogantly, "Close it down then. I would really like to see how capable you two are."

"What is going on? What is happening?" The security guards of the floor had also rushed over after hearing the commotion.

Vince realized the situation had escalated, and was afraid that they would be on the losing side. He wanted to drag the two of them away.

Evelyn ignored him and turned to look at the security guard, asking lightly, "Has the Clothing World closed down?"

The security didn't expect that she would ask such a question all of a sudden. He was stunned and immediately responded, "It's already closed."

"When did it close?"

"Yesterday evening."

Evelyn then looked at the woman and asked lightly with a faint smile, "Do you know why the Clothing World is closed down all of a sudden?"

The woman seemed to realize something, and her manner had instantly mellowed. She stuttered while she asked, "You-You can't be..."

The news of Clothing World closing down last night had already spread all over the place. The woman was an old tenant here, and was also very nosey. Of course she had heard all about it.

"Yes, I'm the reason Clothing World closed down." Evelyn took out her phone and waved her phone's screen-saver to the woman's face. It was a picture of her and Theodore. This photo had been taken to keep up appearances in front of Grandpa; Theodore had made her take the picture with him. She didn't expect that this picture could be used to prove her status.

"Do you want your shop to become the next Clothing World?"

On the day of Martin's wedding, Evelyn and Theodore had made the headlines. The media had deliberately placed her photos in the most obvious spots. However, Theodore had made them remove all the news that had her pictures on them the next day. That was why it was natural that many people didn't recognize her.

"No, no, no, no." The woman looked like she was struck by lightning. Even her lips turned pale as her tone changed when she spoke, "I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize who you were. Please forgive my mistakes, Mistress!"

Everyone in Heavenly Shopping Center addressed Theodore as their 'Boss', so it was natural that she addressed Evelyn as 'Mistress'.

"YYou don’t even understand the basic principle that'the customer is always right', so does this shop still deserve to stay opened?"

"Mistress, I'm in the wrong. I realized my mistake now. I just have my period today, and not only that, one of the clothes is lost. I wasn't in a good mood and was being impulsive. I beg you to be lenient and have mercy on me." The woman was beaded with sweat and both of her legs were shaking. If it weren't for the workers who were helping her out, she would have knelt down and begged.

Evelyn was just thinking of using this opportunity to teach the woman a lesson, but she didn't expect her to be this scared. Evelyn was very surprised. She turned to look at the stunned Vince and then back at the woman. Before she could say anything, the woman was already sobbing, speaking in a shaky voice, "If the dress is lost, let it be. I will never trouble Mr. Moxley again. Mistress, you can rest assured."

"I was the one who lost the dress. It is my fault. I must take responsibility!" Vince who had been quiet all along suddenly interrupted.

Wendy exclaimed, "Vince, that dress costs 50,000!"

"That is the retail price." Vince looked at the woman earnestly. "Can I compensate you according to its cost?"

How would the woman dare take the money? She continuously waved her hand. "You don't have to compensate. You really don't have to. As long as the Mistress forgives my behavior, I'm even willing to pay you a sum of money."

Vince shook his head and looked at Evelyn. "Mistress, I'm indeed in the wrong in today's incident. It has nothing to do with my boss. She was scolding me because she hopes that I could be more careful in the future. Please don't make things difficult for her."

"Vince..."

"Wendy, I know you care for me, but I'm a man. I must take responsibility for my own actions. I have to own up to my own mistakes." Vince then looked at the woman with an apologetic look. "Boss, I'm sorry. I don't have so much cash at the moment. Can I pay you by installment?"

The woman didn't dare respond, and looked at Evelyn with a terrified expression.

In fact, Evelyn didn't really want to do anything to her. When Evelyn heard what Vince said, and saw the woman was in a decent, remorseful attitude, she softened her tone. "This matter is between the both of you. It's fine as long as you two come to terms with each other."

After thinking for a while, she then looked at everyone and said, "I hope that all the tenants of Heavenly Shopping Center will obey the motto 'the customer is always right'. Despite how the customer looks or wears, they are our customer once they enter our shop. You all must welcome them with smiles, as harmony brings in wealth. This can bring a good reputation to this mall. Heavenly Shopping Center doesn't welcome any shop tenants who judge their customers based on appearance."

As soon as she finished speaking, a round of applause rang in the crowds. Wendy even proudly gave a big thumbs up to her best friend.

Evelyn wasn't used to being in the center of attention, so she felt a little embarrassed, since she didn't expect to get this kind of response. She gave everyone a smile and said, "Back to your places, everyone." At the same time, she pulled Wendy away and left.

"Hey!" Vince ran toward her and said sincerely, "Mistress, thank you."

Although it was fun playing the Mistress just now, Evelyn was really embarrassed at this moment. "Don't call me Mistress. It's too awkward. Just call me Evelyn."

When she saw Vince being uncomfortable, Wendy, who was smiling beside Evelyn, said, "Vince, actually Evelyn keeps a really low profile. If it wasn't to stop your boss, she wouldn't reveal her identity in public. Oh well. It's just that your boss is someone who likes to bully the weak. Once Evelyn revealed her identity, she almost passed out from shock."

Evelyn smiled and added, "She isn't afraid of me. She's afraid that I would close her shop down and end her business. After all, Heavenly Shopping Center has great foot traffic, and it's hard to even rent a shop here."

"Actually, the boss isn't afraid of this."

"What?" The two of them looked simultaneously at Vince.

"My boss was afraid that she would end up just like Clothing World's owner."

Evelyn was still confused. "It's just a shop closing down, isn't it?"

"Didn't you guys read the news today?"

When Evelyn shook her head, Wendy had already taken out her phone to check the news website. Evelyn quickly turned her head over to look at it. As soon as she saw the news, her face's expression changed.
