Hospital, ward of Hazel

On seeing Sienna, Hazel’s dull eyes brightened in vividness all of a sudden. Struggling to support her body, she stretched her hands to grab Sienna’s, “Sia, are you alright? Where have you been in the last year? Why didn’t you come back to see me? Don’t you know how much I’ve worried about you?”

Sienna retracted her hands impatiently, “I had to earn money for your illness. Just because of you...Do you know what I have suffered...”

After saying, Sienna covered her mouth and choked with sobs, pretending to be very sad.

On hearing this, Hazel was extremely distressed. She kept on blaming herself, “It is all my fault. I’ve been such a burden to you.”

Shannon frowned and she pressed Hazel’s shoulder, keeping on comforting, “Mom, stop saying this. You should take care of your body...” She knew Sienna was lying. However, she could not tell her mom directly that Sienna was controlled because of gambling.

Hazel pushed Shannon away and looked her up and down. On seeing her fuller figure, which contrasts distinctively with Sienna’s skinny figure, she snorted coldly, “How could I feel ease to recuperate with the hard-earned money of your sister? Your sister has suffered a lot for me. Can’t you share a little bit for her? You disappear throughout the year, and turn a deaf ear to me. How could you have the nerve to ask me to take care of myself. You may be at ease, but I can’t be.”

Shannon was stunned for a while.

In her pregnancy, she could not leave arbitrarily. So, she asks a nurse to take care of her ill mom until her delivery.

She engaged in the dealing for money because she wanted to save her mom and Sienna. In that desperate situation, she could only cast aside her self-respect and shame...

Shannon was too ashamed to speak about the surrogacy. Therefore, she had to endure Hazel’s scolding in silence.

Hazel believed that Shannon kept silence out of guilt. Thus her preference to Sienna grew stronger. She dragged Sienna’s hands and kept on caring her. Sienna retracted her hand impatiently again, and then left with the excuse of using the restroom, leaving Shannon feeding Hazel silently.

“Miss, are you the relative of Hazel?” When Sienna went out of the ward, one doctor holding a clipboard came over.

Sienna hesitated, then nodded.

The doctor smiled, “We have an application sheet, which should be filled by the relative of the patient.”

“Application sheet? I don’t understand. You’d better find the person in the ward. Hazel has more than one relative.” Sienna was afraid it was for the procedures of payment, so she found an excuse to refuse. However, the doctor’s following words caught her attention,

“Do you know Mr. Yates, the well-known pop star? He will hold a concert in the city. Before the concert, he is preparing a charity event. He’s raising 8 million dollars to provide top-grade medical devices for hospitals in the city, and another 10 million dollars to subsidize the family of each patient...?

“OK. I will fill it out.” Before the doctor finished his words, Sienna said yes happily. Her heart was radiant with delight.

In the medical room, the families of all patients are queuing up to fill in the application sheet. They were chatting about Ethan happily.

Ethan, the name only was full of magic power. People talked about him in passion – his scandals, his marriage, and his crazy contradictory charm.

After filling the sheet, Sienna reconsidered and turned to the doctor. She put her delicate hands on the doctor’s hands deliberately, speaking gently and pitifully,

“Doctor, please do not tell this to my sister – Shannon. She is a girl with evil intentions. If she finds it out, she would take the donation all for herself. At that time, my mom will have no money for her illness.”

After Hazel fell asleep, Shannon sighed, got up and closed the door lightly.

She decided to ask the doctor about her mom’s illness.

The moment she stepped out, chaos erupted in the hospital hallway. Shannon found herself had found herself with nowhere to stand, and pushed against the door by a crowd of people.
