Shannon was shocked when she heard the news. The scenes of destruction made her heart ache as if a knife were piercing it.

A scene from twelve years ago suddenly overlapped with the present . She felt as though it was happening all over again.

That year, Bellview had suffered a horrible earthquake and mudslide. Shannon’s house was destroyed. Her mother took her sister Sienna to a safe place, while her father died searching for her in the mudslide.

She was isolated on a hill that was about to collapse, crying out for her father.

“Take my hand, or you will fall!” A young man came towards her regardless of danger. He was wearing a raincoat and hat, and extended his hand to Shannon.

Shannon struggled to reatch out to him.

All wet at that time, she was unconsciously pulled into his arms, and later when she woke up, she found herself in the hospital.

Ethan glanced at her and frowned. He muttered, “uh-huh”.

He looked a little haggard, and his delicate face was a little grim.

Ethan took off his coat and walked in the room, “Put them on the bed first, and you go change your clothes.”

Shannon didn’t know that her body was soaked from the splashed water until then. Her skin was tightly attached to her clothes.

Looking at his daughter, Ethan's weary face was filled with a warm ffectionate smile. He walked over, clapped his hands towards Nancy, and said softly, “Nancy, come here, give Daddy a hug.”

Nancy shook her head like a rattle-drum. She firmly grasped the collar of Shannon, and her small face rubbed against her.

Shannon was wet all over. Even if she wanted to breastfeed, she had to change the clothes first, or Nancy would catch a cold. Of course, Ethan was also concerned about that.

Thus, he gently, yet firmly took Nancy from Shannon.

“Wow!” Nancy cried unwillingly. Although she was held by her father, her hand grasped Shannon tightly.
