Chapter 15 A Deliberate Joke

Shannon’s heart jolted.

Ethan’s eyes were like the extremely penetrable X-rays, which could take people apart and figure out the deepest thoughts of people.

“A woman called on me when I went out the other day.” Shannon almost forgot the matter. She just didn’t expect that Ethan was well aware of that.

“For what?” A glimmer of vigilance flashed in his eyes.

“She was a media reporter who wanted to dig your privacy from me. I refused and tore her business card apart.” Shannon answered straightly.

Ethan stopped frowning, “Tell me next time. There was no need to hide anything.”

However, he tested her even if he knew exactly what she had encountered.

Shannon felt bad for being tested like this.

Why asked her to take care of his two babies if he did not trust her?

“Given the calculations and conspiracies around, all I can do is to take precautions. I am not aiming at you. Anyone who works for me will be tested for their loyalty.” Seeing the grievance in her eyes, Ethan explained.

Hearing this, Shannon seemed to feel better. She took a deep breath and smiled hardly, “I understand.”

This time, she surely felt that accompanying a ‘king’ was akin to living with a tiger.

Ethan’s achievements and status pushed him to the top of the pyramid. He was at the center of this pyramid group, which made himself a target for those seeking to profit from him. Countless minds aimed at him. He was naturally normal to be suspicious in such a status.

After being “blamed” for almost half an hour, Shannon became more and more cautious in her future work.

On a morning in two days, Wesley and Nancy were taken away by Coade and Bill. Shannon didn’t know what happened until she saw Wesley and Nancy on a couple’s talk show.

Ethan held the little ones asleep in his arms, and next to him was Dayle.

“Mr. Yates, it is said that you are going to divorce. How do you explain this?” The host asked this highly controversial topic for Ethan’s fans.

With merely a slight smile, Ethan lovingly looked at Wesley and Nancy.

Dayle held his arm and answered, “Nonsense. How can we divorce with our babies? The rumor that he married me for covering his abnormal sexual orientation is a complete joke! The media is not credible! We are more than ever intimate and close. You see it. Do you?”

“But what happened to you dating a male model on the beach?” The host bombarded.

“No, we didn’t have a date. We were taking photos. My husband supported me as well.” Although Dayle’s faces were pale, she seemed very pleasant.

Ethan nodded, then softly said, “It was taken under my suggestion. I hope the media will pay more attention to issues of poor children, and the disasters in natural calamities, instead of the gossips of a celebrity...”

Undoubtedly, this show was to explain the previous rumors on him.

Shannon sighed in relief.

That night’s conflict over their divorce might have just been a heated argument. Ethan would not divorce from Dayle, especially at such a sensitive time.

Without Wesley and Nancy by her side, Shannon had no choice but to use a breast bump to relieve the pains from breast swelling.

Just a few moments, a few bottles of milk were added in the refrigerator.

“What a waste to throw them away.” Thinking of this, Shannon took out one bottle, intending to give it to Owen. She entrusted another gardener to transfer it, considering the possible gossip of her and Mason.

Ethan returned, and so did Dayle.

For the first time, Ethan allowed Dayle to step into the villa in Fairburg. Wearing a sexy black dress, a tassel cloak inlaid with diamonds, Dayle showed attractive and charming with her hair coped into curl fleeciness. Seemingly, they were made for each other.

Her shape was so good. She didn’t look like a woman who had ever delivered a child.

In case the babies were hungry, Shannon went downstairs to feed them. Having not seen them in a day, she sank into an empty mood.

Nancy was sleeping. Shannon hung Wesley who was humming from the stroller.

Ethan took out a bottle, and elegantly took a sip of the milk that she had pumped earlier to relieve the swelling.

“No! Sir, that’s not...” Shannon nearly blurted out in panic.

The milk tasted a bit sweet and fishy. Ethan frowned and finally figured out what she tried to tell from her blushing face.

Shannon took the milk cup over from Ethan, “It is not for you to drink.” Her voice was as low as a mosquito.

Ethan bit his lips slightly with embarrassment, “You should mark it on the cup.”

“But sir, I thought you liked orange juice.”

Ethan laughed out suddenly. Seeing her shyness, he joked, “Milk can replenish energy. I like drinking it as well.”

“But it’s not milk...” Shannon did not understand his meaning. The moment she lifted her head, their eyes met, her heart almost stopped beating.

His intense eyes seemed to be able to penetrate her soul...

At this point, Shannon’s pure blue eyes did not contain any impurities, which fixed Ethan’s smile.

Time seemed to be static.

“Eth, has my room been ready?”

Dayle came out of the bathroom. At first glance at Shannon, Dayle’s bright smile suddenly condensed and then replaced by horror.
