Shannon was holding Wesley and Nancy in the room, and Coade sent someone outside the room to prevent Dayle from bursting in and doing radical things.
Shannon was still recovering from fear. She had no idea why Dayle was so disgusted with her.
Thinking it over, Shannon deemed that it was their previous conversation in the living room, which was mistakenly interpreted as her seducing Ethan. That was why Dayle was a little overheated.
Ethan enjoyed a high position and had great charm. There were not only fans but also countless women naturally coveting him. That was why Dayle was so sensitive to prevent anyone from seducing him every day.
It would be exhausted to have such a marriage.
Despite her deep affections for the babies, Shannon had to consider the resignation to avoid Dayle from misunderstanding.
Until Wesley and Nancy were asleep, Shannon walked out of the room and went downstairs to the guest room.
Just at the time, Ethan’s assistant, Ken, was telling the servants to clean up the drawing room. Several well-known directors and musicians would come and visit soon. Shannon walked over to him and said that she would like to resign.
Ken frowned. He replied to her that he would tell Mr. Yates about her resignation, and then asked her to go upstairs and have a rest.
Generally, when some people came to visit Ethan, Shannon rarely went out. Ken said it was Mr. Yates’s decision, probably to avoid suspicion.
In the recording room, Ethan was tuning syllables with his guitarist Lance and bassist Abul. He made efforts to tune every syllable ideally. Sometimes Lance would say that this syllable was fair-sounding enough, but Ethan would listen carefully for a dozen times until each syllable was perfect.
No matter a song or a dance step, Ethan was always striving for excellence.
At this time, Dayle came over and smiled warmly, “You busy guys, dinner is ready. Take your place then.”
She came to Ethan and sat beside him, holding his hand. But Ethan raised that hand and dialed towards the console.
Dayle was depressed about that.
“Eth, I’m sorry.” She apologized in a low voice.
Ethan seemed to be thinking about something else.
On the table, Dayle treated Lance and Abul with the utmost cordiality, and her virtuous performance made them feel jealous about Ethan for having such a good wife.
Ethan was silent. He just sat there, looking upstairs. After a moment, he called Ken over, leaned in, and said softly, “Tell the cook to send some food upstairs.”
Wesley and Nancy were in the breastfeeding period, so Shannon’s nutrition also needed to be maintained.
Dayle stopped Ken from leaving and said, “No need. I’ve already told the cook to serve Ms. Somers’s food once once it’s ready. She is the nanny of Wesley and Nancy, and I am very grateful to her for that. Therefore, to show my sincerity, I should personally invite her to come down for dinner.”
Dayle seemed so considerate.
“Dayle.” Ethan stopped her from inviting Shannon.
For a moment, the atmosphere fell into a deadlock.
Lance and Abul realized that Ethan and Dayle seemed to be disputing.
Dayle turned around, “Eth, it’s a tough work for Ms. Somers to take care of our children. She really made efforts for that. We can’t treat her like an outsider. Isn’t that right?”
Ethan glanced at Ken, who then said to Dayle respectfully, “Mrs. Yates, please take a rest, and I’ll handle it for you.”
Dayle finnally stopped.
Shannon was very surprised to hear this since servants and babysitters were not allowed to have dinner there.
Shannon felt uneasy when she saw the two strangers who were sitting at the table downstairs. However, it would be impolite for her to refuse the invitation sent by Ethan.
Dayle looked at Shannon and kept a generous smile all the time. Only a trace of envy flitted through her eyes.
Ethan tasted a bit of the orange juice and looked outside window.
“Hey, Shannon, come here and sit down. We are all waiting for you.” Whenever Lance saw beautiful women, he couldn’t control his dissolute heart.
Anyway, the stalemate was broken thanks to him.
Shannon smiled at Lance and walked over, sitting in a corner that was neither close to Lance nor Ethan.
“Hey, I’m Abul, a bass player. Are you the nanny of two babies? Wow, you look so young.” Compared to Lance, Abul seemed a little shy and spoke quite sincerity.
Shannon smiled coyly and said politely, “Hello, Mr. Abul.”
“Where is your hometown?” Abul asked again.
“Oh, I’m from Bellview.”
Lance drank the wine, the smile on his face was unpredictable, “Are you a fan of Eth?”
“Eh, sort of.”
“Gee, charming as Eth is, the fans would willingly follow him and do anything for him. Why didn’t I ever meet such a good fan?”
Seeing the stiff smile on Dayle’s face, Shannon hasted to explain, “That’s not true, Mr. Lance, I am just a babysitter working for Mr. Yates. Actually, I only like his songs, not crazy enough to...”
“It’s meal time, Lance. Can’t you stop talking while eating?” Ethan cut in, his voice calm and gentle yet involving a trace of rigor.
Lance shrugged, smiled and stopped making fun of Shannon.
The lively atmosphere at the table was quiet again.
Shannon carefully held the folk, awkwardly reaching for a piece of salad that was a bit out of reach.
She had seated herself a little farther away. Noticing this, Ethan quietly slid the plate closer to her.
Dayle noticed it, jealousy burning in her heart, though she forced herself to remain composed. She gently served Ethan some food and said sweetly, “Eth, you need to eat more. You are getting thinner these days.”
Ethan did not refuse her and scooped up a bowl of soup for Dayle. The latter was very happy and held Ethan’s hand all the time when they were eating.
Lance and Abul smiled at each other for seeing that.
“Ms. Somers, thank you for taking care of my children. You know how to handle babies. I misunderstood you before, and I’d like to formally apologize.” Dayle poured a glass of wine and offered a toast to Shannon personally.
Shannon stood up in a hurry, “Madam, you really don’t have to apologize.”
“If you don’t take the wine, are you refusing my apology?” Dayle asked sincerely.
Shannon had to take it over.
“She is breastfeeding. It’s not appropriate for her to drink.” Ethan said.
Shannon stood in amazement and her hand slightly shrank when she received the wine glass.
Dayle was quite unhappy. She was holding the goblet and her nails turned blue and white.
Ethan personally poured a glass of orange juice for Shannon, “You can drink juice instead.”
Dayle sneered, “Eth is very thoughtful. I am so careless and forget Ms. Somers is going to feed my babies.”
Shannon took the orange juice from Ethan and quietly drank it.
Dayle’s eyes twitched slightly and she sat down stiffly.
Ethan was supposed to head to the recording studio after dinner, but suddenly, his head felt groggy, and his body grew hotter. Feeling unwell, he returned to his room early.
“I miss you, Eth.”
As soon as he entered the bedroom, Dayle threw herself into his arms.
