Chapter 23 The God Who Descended for Her

"Ah—" Rowena instinctively raised her arms, shielding her pale and delicate face. Suddenly, her vision went dark.

She thought she was about to faint, bracing for the impact. But instead of the expected pain, she was enveloped by a strong, masculine scent that filled her senses.

Peeking through the slits of her eyes, she saw a familiar face. The sunlight hit the man's hair, giving it a golden halo.

He had clearly rushed over, his hair slightly disheveled. His eyes were squinted, as if enduring immense pain, but there was no mistaking the seriousness in his deep gaze. His lips were tightly pressed together, and the color had faded, turning slightly pale.

Even so, his hands were still firmly supporting both sides of Rowena's head, not relaxing in the slightest.

It was as if a god had descended from the heavens and descended upon the mortal world because his heart was moved. He had just arrived here and was willing to only protect one person from now on.

Rowena stared blankly at Sebastian. Her heart suddenly beat extremely fast as if it was going to break through her chest.

Dong. Dong. Dong.

For the next second, Sebastian's vision went black. The power of his arms disappeared and he fell straight onto Rowena.

"Help!" Rowena shouted with an almost cracking voice. The broken sound turned into strong fear, almost swallowing her.

Rowena could not understand the look in Sebastian's eyes just now. Sebastian might not even be able to understand it himself. However, the feelings in his eyes were too strong. They were like the stormy waves on the dark sea, instantly swallowing all of Rowena's thoughts. It was as if something was buzzing in her mind. There was only one sentence left in the chaos, "Nothing could happen to him."

Willa, who had lost control of herself, had already been restrained by the other consulting masters who had rushed over. Soon, the sound of the ambulance approached. After a commotion, it left with its alarm sound. Rowena was also injured, but she insisted on going to the ambulance to accompany Sebastian. No one could persuade her.

"Miss, after a preliminary judgment, this gentleman's body is fine. He is just temporarily unconscious from excessive pain. You don't have to be too nervous." The attendant doctor in the ambulance saw that Rowena was sitting on the side blankly as if she had been greatly frightened and could not help but comfort her.

Rowena didn't know what was wrong with her. She just felt pain in her heart. She forgot her words and just wanted to wait for him to wake up.

When Sebastian woke up again, it was already evening.

The feeling of pain still existed, but he felt that his spirit was much better than before. The long coma finally gave him a chance to rest, which was also a blessing in disguise, at least in exchange for a good sleep.

He subconsciously looked to the side, but he did not see the figure he imagined. He thought to himself, "This woman... How did she get saved by me and leave without even saying a word of thanks?"

Just as he thought of this, his brows that he had finally managed to stretch were frowning again. He thought to himself, "Do I care so much about Rowena? This morning, I did not even fully understand the situation, but my body had already pounced forward. I knew that no one could withstand the weight of that potted plant, but it was as if I was made of iron. I had to block for Rowena."

"You're awake!" A clear female voice suddenly came from the door. Sebastian looked up and saw Rowena coming in with a bowl of porridge. Her face was filled with indescribable joy. Unlike her usual top ponytail, today she casually tied her hair behind her head, but there was a different kind of gentleness.

Sitting up slightly straight, he asked, "Is the porridge for me?"

Rowena's eyes darkened. She thought that she should not show such expectation, thinking to herself, "Sebastian has a girlfriend. What qualifications do I have to show off my concern here?"

"Yes." After managing her emotions, she curled her lips slightly and returned a business-like smile to Sebastian. She placed the porridge on the table next to the bed, but could not help but remind him, "Don't sit too straight. Your back is injured and you need to rest."

Sebastian was very uncomfortable with her sudden change in mood. He felt that she'd better not have that smile just now. It was like a professional smile of a nurse. The meaning of perfunctory was too strong.

"By the way, Mr. Laird, today's accident was a mistake of our Simon's Clinic. You were injured. How should we compensate you?" Rowena lowered her body and raised Sebastian's bed so that he could sit more comfortably.

"Alright, now that she even used honorifics, she really came to negotiate with me and tried to reduce the compensation." Thinking to himself, heir of the Laird family sneered inside his heart, "How could it be so simple? What did she take me as? A hired shield?"

"It's not convenient for me to eat. Here, feed me this porridge." He said lightly, using his eyes to signal Rowena the porridge that had just been placed on the table.

"Ah?" Rowena did not react for a moment, thinking to herself, "Weren't we talking about compensation? Why does he want me to feed him porridge now?"

"I might not be able to get out of the hospital these few days. Hiring a nurse is too troublesome. You stay here and be my nurse. I can consider not asking for Simon's compensation." Sebastian raised his eyebrows, "How about it? You better think about it carefully. If I insist on asking for compensation from Simon's, your job might not be guaranteed."

Rowena wanted to give him a big supercilious look on the spot, thinking to herself, "I'm a president. The whole world's Simon's are mine. Am I afraid of losing my job because of such a small matter? Even if the Laird Group faces me head-on, it is uncertain who will win or lose."

However, firstly, she could not expose her identity, and secondly, it was indeed Sebastian who saved her, so it was natural for her to take care of him.

"Alright." Rowena turned around, picking up the bowl from the table. She half-knelt on the bed, scooping a spoonful and gently blowing on it.

Her eyes lowered, and her long lashes fluttered softly. The steam from the congee swirled around her, leaving tiny droplets on her lashes. The scene was so breathtakingly beautiful that for a moment, Sebastian found himself unable to look away.
