Chapter 29 Was Everything Exposed?

Someone found out that she was the CEO of Heartbeating!

Rowena's heart sank. She stood up, hurriedly said goodbye to the security guard, and walked to the office.

It was late spring. The weather was not very hot, but Rowena was sweating. She found the remote control and lowered the temperature of the air conditioner. She sat in the chair for a while before the suffocating heat gradually faded.

She calmed herself down and opened the letter.

"Dear Doctor Gale."

"That day at the business banquet of the International Expo, your outstanding performance left a deep impression on me. I hope to have further cooperation with you, so I especially invite you to attend tomorrow's Prosperity Business Forum. At the forum, I will talk to you about cooperation in detail. If you are busy and unable to show up, I will pay a visit in person the next day."

A short letter contained too much information. When Rowena swept the entire letter over, she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.

Was the news leaked at the International Expo?

According to Ryan's style, if he wanted to keep it a secret, he would lock it all. It was impossible to leave any hint behind. The road they drove home on that day was a secret. And all the monitoring recordings in the surroundings should have been blocked. There were no existing vehicles following them in the process.

She believed in Ryan's ability. The identities of all the people present had been thoroughly investigated, and they had signed a confidentiality agreement. All the people at the expo should be famous businessmen. Most of their property was public, so it was difficult for them to run away. They should not take such a risk of breaking the agreement.

Unless...this person wasn't even one of the participants.

The sound of glass shattering at the expo suddenly flashed in Rowena's mind.

Perhaps someone had been hiding in the dark, observing her movements and pressing forward step by step.

"Whoosh—" She pressed the letter face-down on her desk, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly, trying to clear her thoughts. But just as her body began to relax, her gaze fell on the printed emblem on the back of the letter, and her muscles involuntarily tensed up again.

It wasn't just the back of a letter she was staring at. The words had been deliberately written on the reverse side of the paper. Resting quietly before her was a piece of company-branded stationery, with neatly printed horizontal lines.

At the top, the emblem stood out—a flourish of elegant cursive script spelling out The Brandbury Group."

White Corporation! That unmistakable insignia belonged to the White Corporation.

It was as if Rowena had been pressed into the water. The suffocating feeling of drowning was repeated without warning. Fear, helplessness...

"Ding, ding, ding."

The phone suddenly rang and interrupted the nightmare feeling. Rowena grabbed the phone and pressed the answer button as if she was holding onto a life-saving straw, "Hello?"

"Rowena, is everything all right over there?" A steady male voice came. It was a tone that made her feel at ease.

Rowena took the phone to her eyes and looked at the caller's name. It was Ryan.

"Brother... everything is fine? Did something happen?" Her fear was almost gone, yet her heart still hanging in the air. When Ryan came uninvited, it meant something unusual happened.

"The situation here is a little complicated." There was a rustle in the man's voice by the phone, "Tell me first, what happened to you?"

“Why saying that?" Rowena was still thinking about whether she should tell Ryan the truth. When he said the situation was complicated, he must have already found it difficult to handle.

"When have you ever obediently call me brother if nothing happened?" Ryan's usual disdainful tone came again. Rowena could even think of his half-moon eyes, "If you don't say it, I still have to ask my people to investigate. If you want me to waste resources on you and ruin the business, then don't say anything."

"Alright." Rowena suddenly felt a strange sense of relief after being scolded by Ryan like this, "Today, I received a letter that invited me to participate in the Prosperity Business Forum as the CEO of Heartbeating. Moreover, it was written in White family's paper."

Sure enough, Ryan's heart tightened a little. He had been tracking Mason for a long time but had found nothing. This morning, he swaggered in his subordinates' monitoring recording and suddenly disappeared. It was a provocation or an invitation.

"At least you can rest assured," Ryan said, offering some comfort, "this is most likely not a full-scale White Corporation operation today." He paused, his expression still tense but more controlled. "From what we can tell, it’s probably Mason—the one who’s been operating primarily within America. He’s always been a lone wolf. Even if he got his hands on some intel, he wouldn't share it with the White family."

Ryan’s tone darkened as he continued, "One of the main reasons we've struggled to track him down is that he almost never maintains contact with White Corporation in Switzerland."

"There is such a person?" Rowena asked, heaving a sigh of relief. In any case, a person was much easier to deal with than a corporation, "Then what should I do? Do I have to attend the appointment?"

"If you don't go, the entire America will know who you are." Ryan sneered, "Can't you see that he is threatening in the letter? If he truly comes to visit, he can't be alone."

"Then...I'll go." Rowena took a deep breath. No matter what, she had no choice but to step forward this time.

"Don't worry, I will be back as well," said Ryan, who was already getting dressed, "I'll be at America tomorrow morning. I'll go with you when the time comes."

"Hey, are you available?" Rowena asked cautiously. She knew Ryan's line of work required him to keep his identity hidden. Even Jameson did not know that she had such a brother. The last time Ryan accompanied her, it had already been a risky move; doing it again could put him at greater risk of exposure.

"He is provoking us. If we are still timid and lacking in etiquette, we will surely be mocked."
