Chapter 48 Burst

"A lot?" The tour guide opened her mouth wide in shock, "That can't be. Much of the cRainbow Stones here have already been picked up by tourists due to the development of tourism. How could there be many left?"

"Go with me. I will take you to see it!" Mia noticed that the tour guide did not believe her. She pulled her and said, "Leo is staying there, watching the stones. He is afraid we won't be able to find them after a while."

Rowena was also excited, so she turned around to pull Jameson, "Jameson, let's go."

Jameson just stood there. His face was stiff and pale before being noticed.

"What happened?" Rowena stopped, turned around, and asked with concern.

"... I'm fine." Jameson forced a smile, "Go, let's go."

"Are you feeling unwell?" Rowena had never seen Jameson like this. He had good health. Ever since she met him, he had seldom been sick.

But now, Jameson’s appearance was alarming—his complexion was pale, and even the usual color in his lips had faded. He looked like someone who had been seriously ill.

"I’m fine," Jameson repeated, gently pulling his hand away from Rowena’s grasp. Without another word, he walked directly toward Mia and the others.

"What’s wrong with you?" Rowena asked again, baffled by his sudden coldness. Jameson had never been this distant with her. Just this morning, he had been his usual self, but now he was giving her the cold shoulder, his mood swinging drastically.

Jameson didn’t respond. He walked on quietly, as if the world around him had been muted, distancing himself from everything and everyone.

When the two of them arrived at the scene, Rowena was also shocked.

It was a hidden corner, surrounded by green forests. It was quiet and deep. The sunlight shone down from the gaps of the leaves, shining brightly on the Rainbow Stones on the ground. There was a layer of colorful Rainbow Stones. They seemed to form some patterns. They were neat, vivid, and as beautiful as the scenery in a fairy tale.

"Wow..." She exclaimed in a low voice.

"Haha, now you should believe me!" Mia ran to Leo and put her hands on her waist, "This is the secret base that Leo and I found together. This place is ours!"

"There are so many..." The tour guide had never seen this scene before, "This must have picked up all the stones on the mountain. It was not like this when I came yesterday to investigate the situation."

"Could it be that someone gathered all of them here on this night?" Someone asked, "Who could it be? It should be the person on our cruise ship. Right? There doesn't seem to be anyone else on this island."

People began to look around, waiting for someone to take the initiative to say that this was his masterpiece.

"Mom, I announce I have given you these Rainbow Stones!" Mia tilted her head and thought for a long time before suddenly saying, "Although Leo and I were the first to occupy this place, this place is yours because we both love you!"

"Thank you."

Rowena walked forward and pinched Mia's little nose. As expected, her daughter could warm her heart. She was too cute.

"Miss, can I take one?" A woman suggested, "I want to take it away as a souvenir. It's too beautiful."

"Sure." Although Mia said she would give this place to her, Rowena did not take it seriously. These stones were from the scenic area. It did not matter who wanted to take them away, "Mia, what do you think?"

"Of course, there's no problem. It's all for mom. Mom can do whatever you want." Mia clapped her hands generously.

"Your daughter is so cute." The woman could not help but praise, "Very generous."

"It's nothing. Just like me, she doesn't like these things." Rowena smiled and waved her hand, "They are for fun. If you like them, you can take them. Don't have to ask for our opinion."

The women became excited and wanted to go forward to take a colorful stone.

"Yes, you don't like it."

Jameson, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke. Rowena turned around strangely, not knowing what he meant.

"You don't like that striped culottes, don't like the scenery on the mountain, and don't like the Rainbow Stones on the ground." Jameson continued. His voice grew louder and louder, and the expression on his face was indescribably sad."Rowena, you don't like all of this, right?"

"Jameson, what are you talking about?" Rowena was even more puzzled.

The people who were picking up the stones stopped and looked over because of Jameson's voice.

"Everything I do, everything I like, you don't like it." Jameson smiled, "Rowena, do you believe me? I didn't sleep all night and gathered these stones here."

“Jameson… is it true?" Rowena asked in surprise, “But why?"

"Isn't it clear what I want to do?" Jameson continued to smile, but his smile became bitter, "Rowena, are you too lazy to guess, or can you really not guess? I have so many secrets, but you never ask about them. You claim it’s trust, but the truth is, you just don't care, do you?”

He felt uncomfortable. Mia said they would have a father, and he, Jameson, was just a good uncle who would never be forgotten for the rest of their life.

Rowena did not refute this at all.

Jameson was so uncomfortable.

He couldn't sleep, so he went out to stroll alone at night. He accidentally found colorful stones scattered all over the place.

The colored stones were so beautiful.

A bold idea suddenly appeared in his heart. Rowena had never known his feelings before, but if she knew, everything might be different, right?

Driven by this thought, he picked up stones as he walked along the side of the road, tirelessly picking them. Just like adding a colorful stone, his chances might be bigger and bigger.

It was getting dark bit by bit. Then the sky became bright little by little. He searched the entire mountain and put all the stones in this small corner of the jungle. Finally, when the sun came out, he finished everything. He was waiting for his girl to come out here, thinking she would be surprised and moved. Then, her affectionate eyes fell on him, even for a second.

He didn't sleep the whole night. He went back to his room and changed his clothes, but he was not sleepy at all. The upcoming romance made him not tired. He even went to Rowena's room.

"What do you mean I don't care?" However, Rowena knew nothing about it. She did not understand why this man had been so abnormal since this morning, "Jameson, what's wrong with you? We have been like this for so many years. Why did you today..."

"Yes, we are like this every day." Jameson nodded, "But I suddenly don't want to be like this every day."

Earlier, he had tested the waters with Rowena, wondering if it would be alright to express their feelings for each other in such a beautiful place. He did not expect that what he got was her direct opposition. At that moment, he almost backed away again.

But seeing her casually give away the rainbow stones he had painstakingly collected all evening triggered something raw and primal within him.

Why? Why did he always have to hide and nurse his wounds alone?

"What?... Ah!"

Before Rowena could finish her sentence, Jameson suddenly pulled her, causing her to lose her balance and stumble sideways. He caught her just in time, leaving her standing right in the middle of the pile of stones.

Today, she wore flat canvas shoes with thin soles, and the jagged edges of the stones pressed painfully against her feet, every contour felt sharply.

"It hurts." She groaned in pain and was about to leave.

"Does it hurt?" Jameson laughed and snorted. His voice was stubborn and unyielding. He grabbed Rowena's wrist, "Yes, I’ve caused you pain again. But what you’re feeling now doesn’t even compare to a fraction of what I’ve endured."
