When Caleb spoke, no one would dare to refuse him. The new rising star in Hawthorne City's venture capital scene, undefeated so far, leading Fisher Group to new heights—being on his good side meant getting closer to the upper circles.
Moreover, Misty Mountain Restaurant was by reservation only, a place for the rich and powerful. The average cost per person started at ten thousand dollars. Who wouldn't want to take advantage of such an opportunity?
It was clear that Caleb was going all out for Hailey, showing her plenty of affection and care, fearing that his little girl would face any difficulties at the hospital, so he was helping her build connections with her colleagues.
The longer Yasmin stayed, the more suffocated she felt. She wanted to go out for some air, but Director Zander hadn’t left yet, so she couldn’t leave on her own.
Hailey, with a sweet smile, linked her arm with Caleb’s. "My boyfriend's treating us, so please don’t be shy. You all must come and join us!"
The little girl seemed so delicate and soft in front of the tall man, her slim figure contrasting with his broad shoulders and narrow waist, making them look like a perfect match.
"Your boyfriend is so handsome..." Someone praised, "He really dotes on you. It's clear that he loves you."
Hailey felt the affection from Caleb and seemed to glow with happiness. Her gaze shifted to Director Zander. "Director Zander, I’ve been feeling unwell recently. Can I request the office next door?"
Director Zander paused for a moment, and everyone in the office immediately turned their gaze to Yasmin.
That office was the Department Head's Office, which Yasmin used exclusively. She was usually approachable and often worked alongside her colleagues at their desks.
Hailey must have thought that office was empty.
Isabella, who had been silent the whole time, couldn’t hold back any longer. Hailey had taken her advanced training spot, and now she was trying to claim another person’s office. She and Yasmin were close, and she couldn't stand it anymore. "That office belongs to Director Jenkins."
Upon hearing this, Hailey’s face turned a little awkward. She bit her lip, looking innocent. "Ah, I thought it was unoccupied... I'm sorry."
She looked at Yasmin, her face full of apology. "Director Jenkins, I didn’t know that was your office. You saved me that night, and I truly didn’t mean to."
It was clear that Hailey was flustered. She looked around, and the only available spot was near the bathroom.
Her face stiffened for a moment, and she glanced at Caleb with a touch of embarrassment. In a low voice, she said, "It looks like there's only that spot left. Well... I’ll just sit there."
Just then, Caleb grabbed her hand.
Hailey turned back in confusion, her black eyes shining with innocence. "Bro Caleb?"
"You’re pregnant. That spot is near the bathroom, which is filled with germs. It’s not good for a pregnant woman’s health. Plus, it's near the wind, which can cause a cold," Caleb said softly. "You can’t afford any issues right now."
His voice was calm but carried an undeniable authority. He wasn’t asking; he was ordering.
Isabella spoke up, "That’s the Head’s Office. It might not be appropriate..."
Director Zander then spoke, putting an end to the discussion. "It’s settled then. After all, she’s pregnant and needs to be careful. Yasmin, please bear with it for now. You usually enjoy working alongside everyone here anyway."
Caleb, as the major donor of two billion dollars, was naturally influential. Director Zander knew this and understood that a small office switch wasn’t a big deal.
"Director Jenkins, Hailey is pregnant, and as an obstetrician, you should understand that pregnant women are physically weak, especially given Hailey's unique health condition, which you’re well aware of," Caleb said, looking at Yasmin, offering a rare explanation. "Director Jenkins, surely you wouldn’t hold a grudge against a young girl, would you?"
