Chapter 3 I... Went Out for a Hookup

Luxury Residential Area.

Hannah Quinton, sporting big waves of hair and a sharp business suit, had been pacing in front of Yulia's house for what felt like forever before finally catching her friend coming back.

"Yulia, what on earth happened? Your phone was off, and you were gone all night! Where did you go?" Hannah's worried expression made Yulia feel both guilty and embarrassed.

While she’d been out... occupied, her friend had been worried sick.

"Uh... I went out for a hookup," Yulia admitted sheepishly, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge and downing it to soothe her hoarse throat, a consequence of last night’s... activities.

"W-What?" Hannah's eyes widened in disbelief. "A hookup?"

Avoiding eye contact, Yulia gave a casual shrug and an awkward smile.

"A tall, muscular, well-built guy."

Hannah was left speechless, staring at her for a long moment before she finally managed to respond.

"Yulia, you shouldn’t let that jerk Yannick push you to do something like this." She looked at Yulia with a mixture of worry and disapproval.

At the mention of Yannick, any trace of sentimentality vanished from Yulia’s expression.

"For him?" Yulia laughed, a bit mockingly.

Maybe at first, it had been about anger. But as the night went on, she’d been too focused on the man in bed with her to even remember Yannick’s name.

"You weren’t doing this to get back at him?" Hannah asked, confused.

"Of course not! He gave me three years of a beard marriage. He’s the kind of guy even a dog would reject. You think I’d do anything for him?" Yulia’s disgusted tone made Hannah believe her without question.

"Then what was it for...?"

What for?

Maybe it was that man’s overwhelming masculinity that, in that moment, had finally made her feel like a real woman.

"Pleasure," Yulia said, keeping it short.

Hannah let out a sigh of relief, but her curiosity wasn’t satisfied yet.

"So... who’d you sleep with?"

Yulia's face heated up as Harrison’s wild image flashed through her mind.

"A... mechanic."

Hannah’s jaw practically hit the floor.

"Yulia, seriously? A mechanic? You don’t need to be that desperate."

To Hannah, mechanics represented everything grimy and unsophisticated. The thought of Yulia—a classic beauty with refined tastes—entangled with a guy like that was simply unfathomable.

"If you’re just looking for a man, you could’ve told me," Hannah added, rolling her eyes. In her circles, men of every kind were available, and they were all top-tier.

Yulia shrugged, thinking that besides Harrison's less-than-elite profession, he was exceptional in every other way—physically too.

Seeing Yulia’s sly grin, Hannah yanked her collar open, peeking in to get a better look.

The collection of love marks left her speechless.

"Looks like he’s... quite skilled."

Yulia flushed, pushing her friend back and straightening her clothes.

"He’s more than good, he’s... well, let’s just say he’s top-notch."

Hannah chuckled. "One night and you’re already convinced? Honey, there’s a world of better options out there. You’re still new to this—let me introduce you to some wealthy gentlemen who know what they’re doing."

Yulia stayed quiet, but her mind went back to Harrison, who had surpassed even her wildest expectations. Maybe it was the heavy lifting he did every day, but his strength and physique were leagues beyond anyone she’d seen.

"Thanks, but no thanks. You’ve already done so much helping with the divorce. Without your legal team, I wouldn’t have walked away with half as much."

Hannah’s smile faded at the mention of the divorce.

"That bastard Yannick should’ve left with nothing."

"That wasn’t happening—his company was untouchable, and my mom’s connections with the Langfords meant we had to leave some room for appearances. Still, bleeding him dry felt pretty satisfying. You should’ve seen his face yesterday—like a sulking dog. It was... glorious."

The only thing missing, however, was exposing the man behind Yannick’s affairs. That would’ve been the real victory. Yulia’s grudge ran deep, and merely getting divorced barely scratched the surface of her resentment.

She wouldn’t rest until Yannick and his secret lover were both brought to ruin.

"Keep digging on that guy from the photo—the one he’s been sneaking around with. I want him destroyed."
