Chapter 8

I quickly broke free from Marcus's arms and fished out my phone. The words "Network Admin" flashed on the screen.

I stepped back and exchanged glances with the others. Finally, Sarah sighed and said, "Go ahead, take the call."

With that, she pulled Tyler back towards the storage room door, and I took the opportunity to answer the phone.

It turned out the network admin was back, asking if I still needed my computer repaired.

The down-to-earth conversation snapped me out of the heated atmosphere. I responded with a few words, scheduled a time, and hung up the phone, my thoughts becoming a bit clearer.

Sarah had already gotten dressed. She looked at me and asked, "In a hurry?"

I nodded. With no other choice, Sarah said, "Then you should go ahead, don’t let it affect your work."

Hearing her say that, I couldn’t help but want to persuade her to stop, but I couldn’t bring myself to say it.

After all, I had almost gotten caught up in it myself just now.

Gathering my thoughts, I returned to the office to deal with the computer issue.

The network admin was a young guy. Noticing that I wasn’t in the best mood, he shared some school gossip with me, then lowered his voice and asked, "Ms. Anderson, haven’t you noticed there’s been an increase in inspections around the school lately?"

I didn’t think much of it and shook my head dismissively. He then said, "There was a routine check a few days ago, and they found several hidden cameras. Some were in the offices, the gym, even on the top floor of the dorms!"

He continued working on the computer, not noticing my eyes widening as he went on. "Most of the memory cards from the cameras were missing. The school only managed to get hold of one, and they asked me to analyze it. Guess what I saw when I opened it?"

Alarm bells rang in my head, but I tried my best to remain calm. "What did you find?" I asked, keeping my voice steady.
