Chapter 9

The guy glanced around, then whispered, "A couple secretly hooking up! It was too dark to see their faces, though. But the school’s taking it really seriously. They said it’s important to find out who’s responsible, whether for the sake of the school or for the individuals involved, to prevent any leaks from blowing up the situation."

I don’t even remember how I left the office.

On my way home, my mind was in complete disarray. On one hand, I felt terrified at how recklessly I had rushed to the gym. On the other, I couldn’t stop worrying about the hidden camera incident.

Given Sarah’s behavior last night, could she have been the one caught on camera?

Or maybe... were those cameras set up by Tyler?

I suddenly remembered Marcus, who usually showed such respect for teachers and friends, but had acted so at ease in the gym in a completely different way. My guard went up, and I quickly pulled out my phone to contact Sarah.

As soon as she picked up, I didn’t bother asking where she was and just said, "Do you have a moment right now?"

The sound of clinking dishes came through the receiver, and I heard Sarah’s puzzled voice, "I’m already home, just about to eat dinner."

Then she laughed, "No way, you’re that desperate?"

I cut her off, speaking coldly, "I need to talk to you about something. Come out, I’ll find a place and treat you to dinner."

Maybe it was because I sounded so serious, but Sarah didn’t refuse. Not long after, she arrived at the restaurant near my apartment complex as promised.

She was wearing a short skirt, bold and sexy, completely different from her office attire. The men dining on either side couldn’t help but glance at her repeatedly. When she reached the corner spot I had reserved, she finally set down her bag and sat down slowly. "What’s going on? You sounded pretty urgent."

No matter who placed those cameras, and whether or not Sarah knew about them... as her friend, I had to warn her.
