But to my surprise, Marcus remained silent, and every time I tried to summon him to the office, he always found some excuse to avoid it.
Seeing him acting so well-behaved and chatting happily with the other teachers just made me even more wary of him.
In contrast, Sarah, who had been directly involved in the situation, was much more at ease.
As soon as her husband, who only came home two or three times a year, received the news of the divorce, he rushed back. The two of them quickly reached an agreement and got their divorce certificate without delay.
Sarah even joked to me that only after the divorce did she and her ex-husband finally become friends.
I watched her happily eating snacks and couldn’t help but ask, “Are you really not worried about Marcus at all?”
Sarah waved her hand dismissively, looking unconcerned. “I went to the IT guy and checked the video. My face isn’t even clear, let alone recognizable. It’s no big deal.”
Since she was so calm, I had no reason to worry either.
Besides, those cameras had already been removed. In just a few days, they probably wouldn’t have captured anything significant.
Otherwise, Marcus would have acted by now.
Just when Sarah and I had relaxed, a time bomb dropped on us.
It was an email.
The email contained only one photo, taken in the storage room of the gym. Sarah’s profile was clearly visible, and the other person in the photo was none other than Tyler.
Sarah, who had been calm for the past few weeks, let out a gasp, slammed the laptop shut, and dragged me out of the office.
“What do we do?!”
She was panicking, and seeing that actually made me calm down. I quickly patted her shoulder. “Let’s call Marcus out and see what he really wants.”
