My in-laws were worried about me being stressed, so they checked on me at the office a couple of times. Once they saw I had everything under control, they stopped worrying.
Just like that, Ethan's been in the countryside for over a month now.
During this time, I haven't reached out to him at all. I gave him a basic flip phone, but he hasn't contacted me either.
Looks like he's still holding a grudge, huh?
I found Ethan a little farmhouse in the rural suburbs. He's living there all by himself.
There's no entertainment, no internet out there.
His days must be pretty dull and boring. I doubt he's learned how to cook yet, so I asked the neighbors to check on him every few days to make sure he doesn't starve.
Worried he might get bored, I left him a few books. Compared to CEO Lancaster next door, I'm being pretty nice.
I heard Lancaster ditched his wife in the countryside for over two months without a word. He only rushed to apologize when he heard some hot guy was hitting on her.
Hmph, what a jerk.
No wonder I can't stand him.
Jack's my assistant now, but he used to be Ethan's right-hand man.
He's still in touch with Ethan pretty often and gives me daily updates.
"Mr. Sinclair spent all day staring at the ceiling. When he fell asleep, some dirt fell from the roof right into his mouth and woke him up."
"Mr. Sinclair asked the neighbor to help fix the roof today. Then he broke the door trying to go out and had to fix that too."
"Mr. Sinclair says he's lost 8 pounds. Claims his abs have disappeared."
"Mr. Sinclair helped the neighbor harvest rice today. The old guy promised to treat him to fried chicken tonight."
