"Lily... what has she been in? Her name sounds familiar."
Jack looked through some files. "According to this, she graduated from the same high school as you. Could she be your old classmate, ma'am?"
Lily... could it be that Lily? My high school nemesis?
As I was pondering this, Jack casually added, "Lily seems pretty interested in Mr. Sinclair..."
The next day, I showed up at the "Dreaming of the Countryside" filming location, all dressed up and disguised.
I had Jack contact the production team to get me a spot on the show. I wanted to be part of it too.
But they said they had enough guests and couldn't add any more.
However, they did say I could hang around as a crew member and watch the whole filming process.
Fine by me. Being a crew member might even be more convenient.
At the filming site, I saw Ethan.
Just like Jack said, he'd lost weight and got a tan. But somehow, he looked even manlier now. He had this rugged charm, kinda like Sam Hawkins' character in "Countryside Freedom".
The girl next to him must be Lily. I squinted my eyes (I'm a bit nearsighted) to get a better look. Yep, it was definitely her.
Lily, my high school nemesis.
Ethan and I went to an elite high school that only accepted students with exceptional grades or talents. But if you had super deep pockets, you could buy your way in too.
That's how Lily got into our school - her family paid.
Her family got a big payout from a property demolition deal. They bought a house and some storefronts in the city, then used the rest to support their daughter's education.
Lily was pretty and knew how to sweet-talk people. It didn't take long for her to form her own little clique at school. She had her fair share of admirers too.
She turned them all down though. At first, I thought she was just level-headed and didn't care about material things. But when I saw her confess to Ethan, I realized the truth - it wasn't that she didn't care about money, she just wanted the best of everything.
