Chapter 12

【Lock it down! Lock it down! I'm shipping them so hard!】

【I'd trade a year of my life for their happily ever after. Universe, make it happen!】

【A year? Amateur. I'm putting five years on the table.】

【Make it a decade...】

The comments were starting to go off the rails.

With Lily being so insistent, no one else wanted to compete with her.

Evan had no choice but to be paired with Lily.

Today's task was to catch fish and dig lotus roots in the pond.

Before even getting in the water, Lily was already coquettishly pleading with Ethan, "Evan, you have to protect me."

When she couldn't see, Ethan rolled his eyes so hard he could see the back of his head.

Probably afraid Ethan would abandon her or stray too far, Lily clung tightly to him from the start.

The pond was muddy and uneven, making it difficult to walk.

Ethan was already struggling to walk by himself, let alone with Lily as a burden.

Lily seemed oblivious to Ethan's reluctance and hung all over him, one arm tightly around his waist and the other around his neck.

I felt my anger boiling over.

Ethan, I'm giving you three seconds to let go!

If you get dirty, I won't want you anymore!

Suddenly, there was a splash. Lily fell into the fish pond, her face covered in mud, looking completely disheveled.

Watching from afar, I was surprised. Could this be the telepathy between husband and wife?

Lily face-planted hard. I gotta say, her falling pose was as graceless as ever.

For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. As Ethan shoved Lily away, he lost his balance and fell too.

He struggled to get up. Though he hid it well, I could sense his discomfort beneath that calm exterior.

Looks like he might've twisted his ankle.

After the activity, staff rushed to help Lily clean up, completely ignoring Ethan. He limped back to his cabin alone.

I immediately drove to the pharmacy in town to buy some meds for sprains and bruises.
