Chapter 15

He was driving his new car. Nobody recognized it.

The photo was actually pretty good. Happy was looking up at me in my arms. So much for being aloof – he looked totally devoted.

Jessica snatched her phone back. "I only suspected you had a sugar daddy before, but now it's confirmed."

"Oh!" It couldn't be more confirmed if we tried. I felt my face getting hot.

Last night, Happy was out like a light after chowing down on some canned food.

Noah and I were just sitting there, staring at each other with nothing to do. I suggested we crack open a bottle of wine to get a head start on celebrating the New Year.

Noah hesitated for a sec but then agreed.

As usual, I was knocking 'em back while Noah was just sipping.

I started rambling about all sorts of funny stories from back home and some embarrassing stuff from when I was a kid.

Maybe it was just the good vibes?

Noah was listening and suddenly blurted out, "I really missed you during the Christmas break!"

The booze had me a bit fuzzy, and I just stared at him, dumbfounded.

He hesitantly leaned in closer, "I like you!"

I quickly covered my mouth to hold back a burp that was coming up, "I think Happy just took a dump..."

Noah pulled my hand away from my mouth, "Happy's sound asleep..."

Then he leaned in even closer.

He smelled so good. I think I saw Happy coming over, so I opened my arms:

"Come here, sweetie. Let mama give you a kiss..."

"Come here, sweetie. Let daddy give you a kiss..."

...

Happy woke up and came into the bedroom to find Noah sleeping on top of me. He wasn't happy about it at all. He jumped on the bed, trying to squeeze between us, but Noah pushed him off and shooed him out of the room.

"Adults only!"
