Chapter 10

It turned out that my miscarriage all those years ago wasn’t an accident. It had been Jasmine’s deliberate plot.

Jasmine had seduced Christopher while I was pregnant. At first, she only wanted a wealthy man to support her and her brother.

But greed knows no limits. Eventually, she grew unsatisfied with just being Christopher’s mistress.

So, using the money Christopher had given her, she hired someone to sabotage me, causing my miscarriage and ensuring I could never have children again.

With that, Jasmine figured Christopher would have no choice but to marry her for the sake of the child.

In a fit of rage, I swept everything off my desk, sending paint splattering across the floor.

“Does Christopher know about this?” I asked.

“He probably doesn’t know yet.”

Clenching my teeth, I said, “Don’t tell him for now.”

Christopher was a calculating man, selfish and very concerned with his image.

He didn’t come from a wealthy background; it was only after we got married and through my family’s connections that he managed to establish himself in high society.

So, he’s always been sensitive about his origins.

As for a woman like Jasmine, with her lowly background, he didn’t actually think much of her. To him, she was just a tool to give him a child.

There’s no way he would ever marry Jasmine.

Her scheming would ultimately come to nothing, but I didn’t want to let her off the hook. In fact, I didn’t want to let either of them off.

From that point on, I started getting involved with the company.

“You never liked dealing with these bothersome matters,” Christopher remarked.

Ever since I got pregnant, I had handed everything over to him and never bothered with it again, finding it all too tiresome.

Christopher took advantage of this, replacing the core members of the company with his own people behind my back.

Now, I wanted to take back what was rightfully mine.

“I’ve had too much free time lately, and I keep thinking about the child we lost. I need something to occupy myself with so I don’t dwell on it,” I said.
