Chapter 13

Then, Asher led me over to them.

I walked closer, step by step, watching as Christopher’s expression shifted repeatedly.

I couldn’t help but smile.

“Jasmine, Chris, this is Grace—my girlfriend,” Asher introduced me, his voice filled with barely contained excitement.

Jasmine swayed, almost toppling over, but Christopher caught her just in time.

“Asher, you must be mistaken,” Jasmine managed to say with difficulty. “She’s much older than you!”

“Miss Sullivan,” I said, turning my gaze to Christopher, my smile widening, “isn’t Mr. Reynolds much older than you? And yet you’re still carrying his child, aren’t you?”

Christopher’s face turned ashen.

“Exactly!” Asher chimed in. “Age doesn’t matter. The important thing is, I love her.”

Seeing her own brother defend me so fiercely, Jasmine was left speechless, unable to argue her case.

Asher, however, perceptively asked, “Grace, do you know my brother-in-law?”

“We’ve met a few times in business. Mr. Reynolds is a big name, after all. Who hasn’t heard of him?” I casually offered an excuse to brush it off.

“A few times?” Christopher ground his teeth as he spoke.

His face had darkened, and he had completely lost control of his expression.

“Chris, what’s wrong—”

Before Asher could finish his sentence, Christopher forcefully grabbed me and dragged me away right in front of him.

As Christopher pulled me toward the door, Asher called out my name anxiously from behind, but Jasmine stopped him.

Christopher took me to the next room, and as soon as we were inside, he pushed me up against the wall, his face seething with anger as he stared at me.

“Grace Bennett!” He was so furious he called me by my full name. “What the hell are you doing? How could you get involved with him?”

I met his gaze, smiling lightly as I retorted, “You can get involved with his sister, but I can’t be with him?”

“Christopher, before you question me, shouldn’t you take a good look at what you’ve done?”
