It felt like he was about to strangle me, but instead, he let go. Slowly, he pulled off his tie and tossed it onto the nearby cabinet.
“Babe,” he softened his tone. “Did you do this just to get back at me? I really just wanted a child.”
“Once she gives birth, I’ll cut ties with her. We’ll have nothing to do with each other.”
I stared at him in disbelief. How could he say something like that?
I laughed bitterly in my anger. “Get back at you? Christopher Reynolds, do you think you’re worth it?”
“You can find a young, pretty girl to give you a child, but I can’t find someone younger and stronger to satisfy me?”
“Christopher, cheating is cheating. Be a man and own up to it. Do you think I’m an idiot?”
Christopher’s face turned ashen with humiliation from my words. His fists clenched tightly, as if he wanted to kill me on the spot.
But unfortunately, he couldn’t.
“Do you think this is how you’ll get back at me, Grace Bennett? Getting involved with that boy won’t do you any good! Have you even thought about the consequences?”
“What? Are you going to divorce me?” I said, pulling the divorce papers from my bag and tossing them at him.
“If you sign them, you can make Jasmine your wife and let her give birth to your child in this house, all nice and proper.”
“You want to divorce me?” Christopher stared at me, his veins bulging with rage.
“I’m just giving you what you want…”
“Don’t even think about it!” Without hesitation, Christopher ripped the divorce papers to shreds. “My wife can only be you.”
Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at me, but still answered the call, then hurriedly left.
I looked at the empty house and didn’t hesitate to pack my things and move out.
I couldn’t stand being around that man for even one more second.
