Suddenly, I remembered that Jasmine’s baby was due soon.
Since I had already wronged Asher, I might as well go all the way. There was no point in leaving any loose ends.
There was no need to leave myself with any future trouble either.
I went to the hospital where Jasmine was staying. Ever since that emotional breakdown in my studio, which had caused complications with her pregnancy, she had been on bed rest.
When I arrived, Jasmine was alone in the room.
She lay on the bed, her belly large and swollen. Her first reaction upon seeing me was to cover her stomach.
I smiled and placed the fruit I had brought on the table.
“Almost time, huh? You’ll be a mother soon.”
“What are you doing here?” Jasmine asked warily.
“I just came to see the soon-to-be mother. After all, I’ll never have the chance to become one myself.”
Jasmine frowned upon hearing that.
“Christopher is already in prison. Are you really still going to have his child? How much do you love him, exactly?”
“What does it matter to you?” Jasmine clearly didn’t want to talk to me.
“I just think it’s a shame,” I said. “You love him so much, but he doesn’t love you at all.”
“What are you talking about?!” Jasmine raised her voice.
“Want to hear what he said?” I took out my phone and played a recording of Christopher’s words.
The more Jasmine listened, the angrier she became. She even tried to lunge at me to smash my phone.
I pulled it away just in time and said, “If he really loved you, he would’ve divorced me long ago. It would’ve been easy for him. But he didn’t, because my education and background match his status. To put it bluntly, he looks down on someone like you.”
Jasmine’s eyes bulged with fury.
She clutched her stomach and said, “You came here today just to provoke me, to make me go into premature labor! You’re so vicious!”
“Hahaha, in that regard, I’m not as good as you.” I walked closer to the bedside, placing my hand on her belly. “At least you might still become a mother, while I, thanks to you, will never be able to have children.”
Jasmine’s entire body froze in panic.
“What are you talking about…?”
