After my sharp retort, Bern was dumbfounded. Clearly, he'd lost control of the situation and was panicking.

I gave a cold laugh. He'd just assumed that because I was young, I'd be easy to intimidate. He wanted to manipulate me, but anyone who could do such bold things in public must have some serious courage.
