Chapter 7

Nina's expression froze.

As Felix pointed at me, about to speak, I grabbed his finger and bent it back, then spat at him, saying, "Who do you think you are to boss me around? If I hadn't worked myself to death bringing in clients, this garbage company would've gone bankrupt from cash flow problems! You really think it was your ability? I've been too nice to you."

Felix clutched his finger, yelping in pain. His face turned red with anger, and his toupee fell off.

Just then, a calm female voice came from behind, "What's all this noise?"

I turned to see Victoria.

Oh right, almost forgot about miss wallflower Victoria.

I suddenly calmed down, turned to Victoria with a twisted smile, and asked, "Mrs. Blackwood, you're Christian, right?"

Victoria hesitated, but nodded despite her confusion.

My smile grew wider and more venomous.

"Perfect. God is watching everything from above, watching how you carelessly let someone die. But don't worry, you won't be the one burning in Hell for this."

"I heard your baby was born with a weak cry? You know what? With so many people at our company praying for your son, I bet God will take your son straight to Heaven real soon!"

Victoria's face changed slightly, but before she could speak, her lapdog Nina moved first.

Nina stepped forward and slapped me, snapping, "How dare you curse like that! As HR Director, I'm going to teach you a lesson on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Blackwood!"

I immediately dropped to the floor, covering my face.

My colleagues had already been secretly recording, and when Nina actually hit me, everyone gasped in shock.

Riley, the Assistant Sales Manager and my usual lunch buddy, ran over and knelt beside me. "Maddie, are you okay? Did she burst your eardrum?"

I shot her a look, and she immediately pulled out her phone and called the police without hesitation.

Nina finally started to panic, backing away and silently begging Victoria for help.

But Victoria remained detached as ever, acting like she was above it all, not saying a word.

When the police arrived, I held my face and ear, crying that I couldn't hear anything since being hit.

So with the police escort, Nina, Victoria, and I went to the hospital for a full examination.
