Chapter 8

Though the test results showed no serious injury, Nina's violent slap was considered assault. Since I refused to settle, she was quickly taken into custody.

Before the police took her away, she looked helplessly at Victoria, clearly hoping for some intervention.

But Victoria just held her hand with that same aloof expression. "Nina, don't worry. Just cooperate at the county jail. Stay calm and I'll have my lawyer handle this. We'll get you out on bail soon."

Nina completely lost hope, hanging her head in defeat as she got into the police car.

After this drama at the office, Felix couldn't stand me anymore.

But I wasn't planning to stay anyway. I only came in today to get a little payback.

I threw my resignation letter in Felix's face and walked out without looking back.

Behind me, Felix roared in fury, "Madeline, you ungrateful snake! After all the company's done for you, this is how you repay us? Just wait, you'll regret this one day!"

I laughed coldly. We'll see who ends up with regrets.

Right after leaving the company, I called my headhunter.

"Please let Mr. Mitchell at UniPrime know that I've resigned from Sunrise, and I'm ready to start whenever they need me."

The headhunter sounded delighted on the other end.

She enthusiastically agreed, saying I should've done this long ago.

UniPrime Company had been eyeing my client portfolio for two years, offering a premium package to poach me.

Maybe it was nostalgia holding me back - I'd built Sunrise's entire sales department from scratch, poured my heart and soul into it. Plus, Felix wasn't as unreasonable back then, so after careful consideration, I turned them down.

But now, I had nothing left to hold onto.

If there was anything I'd miss, it would be the colleagues who had always had my back.

Still, you win some, you lose some. As soon as I joined UniPrime, I felt the more dynamic atmosphere.

UniPrime Company was Sunrise's main competitor - both tech companies focused on internet software development. But UniPrime was the more established player with a much larger operation.

On paper, Sunrise shouldn't even qualify as UniPrime's competitor, but UniPrime had taken a hit from a bad strategic decision two years ago, weakening their core business. That's when Sunrise swooped in and grabbed several major accounts.
