Chapter 6 "Baby, Be Good!"

She might care about losing face, but I didn't.

Vanessa was shocked. She held her cheek and glared at me. "How dare you? Do you have a death wish?"

The driver, seeing as his boss had just been attacked, quickly got out and rushed toward me.

I stepped back and pointed at him, shouting, "Don't you dare! My husband is Theron Wilson―you'll regret it if you touch me."

Hearing this, the driver stopped and lowered his head.

I knew he was scared. Theron was the richest man in the country. Nobody dared to mess with him.

Vanessa yelled at her driver in frustration, "What are you standing there for? Hit her!"

The driver replied timidly, "She's Mrs. Wilson, ma’am. I can't."

"You are useless!" Vanessa's face, with her makeup smeared, twisted in anger.

The bystanders kept staring at her. She shot me a vicious look, "You'll pay for this!" Then, she and her driver fled to her car and drove away.

I stood there, glued to the groundwhile I watched her leave. My tough act crumbled, and I stumbled to a nearby bench. My chest felt heavy and I lost my breath.

Suddenly, my phone rang―it was Theron.

'So, he finally remembered to call me?' I thought. 'But we parted on bad terms yesterday, with him talking about divorce.' With this in mind, I suddenly felt afraid to answer.

After hesitating, I picked up.

Right away, his accusing voice came through, "Aurora, when will you stop? This is between us―why would you bring Vanessa into this? And you hit her? You're really getting out of hand."

I thought I'd heard him wrong, "What?"

"Listen to me―don't bother Vanessa again. Be good, don't make things difficult."

I was stunned.

"That's all, I'm hanging up." Before I could defend myself, Theron hung up.

“So that woman twisted the story? Damn.”

She was the first one to come looking for trouble. I was so angry, but I stubbornly held back my tears as I returned to school.

Theron believed Vanessa without any hint of a doubt, blamed me, and didn’t call since.

I stayed at school for the past two days instead of going home. He didn't contact me, and I didn’t contact him either. But on Friday, he was going to give a big lecture, which had the whole school buzzing.

I was spacing out at my desk when my roommate Chloe asked, "Aura, what's wrong? Come on, Dr. Wilson's lecture is about to start."

I thought, 'Theron's giving a lecture at school? So suddenly?'

I didn't move an inch, "You guys go ahead. I'm not going."

"What? You're not going? It's Dr. Wilson's lecture! Many universities try but can't get him to go. He's speaking in the main hall where the whole school can attend. Why aren't you going?"

"I'm not feeling well."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just go. I'm not interested."

Chloe seemed confused but gave up. After all, I'd never missed any of Theron's lectures before.

Chloe waved goodbye,"Well, take care then. I'm going to the lecture. Call me if you need anything."

"Okay."

I was left alone in the dorm. Actually, I really wanted to go. I remembered last year's lecture―He was standing at the podium, looking elegant and dignified, and charmed everyone in the audience.

Including me.

Back then, I sat in the crowd, gazing at him lovingly, wanting so badly to get closer and tell him how I felt.

Of course, I never dreamed I'd become his wife one day.

Thinking about all the joy and sweetness from our six months of marriage, I didn't want to give up. Even if Theron told me himself that the Mrs. Wilson title belonged to someone else, I wouldn't let go. My marriage was mine to decide.

I fell asleep at my desk.

My three roommates' excited chatter woke me up.

"Dr. Wilson is so handsome! He looked like Apollo up there. How can anyone be so perfect?"

"I know! I secretly took so many photos. From now on, Dr. Wilson is mine!"

"With his looks, he could've been a movie star."

"A movie star? That's beneath Dr. Wilson's talents. He's perfect as he is― the CEO of the Auro Corporation and the richest man in the country. I wonder what kind of woman could possibly be good enough for him."

Suddenly, my roommate Celeste looked at me. "Dr. Wilson's last name is Wilson, and his company is the ‘Auro Corporation’. Don't you think that's a strange coincidence with our Aurora?"

Chloe perked up, "Yeah! Aurora not only shares his last name, but ‘Aura’ sounds just like his company name too. Such a coincidence!"

They saw I had woken up and rushed over. "Aura, do you know Dr. Wilson?"
