"Ms. Reed, our boss, Mr. Parker, would like to invite you to lunch. Are you free now?" the man asked with a polite smile.

"Sorry, I already have plans." I turned him down without hesitation, sneaking a glance at the sleek luxury car parked behind him.

"That's a shame." He didn't press the issue. "Well, maybe next time. Have a nice day, Ms. Reed."
