Elder Thompson showing up now is a surprise. Expected him weeks from now; however, with the Carol incident, I figured he'd show up eventually - just not this soon.

The old man, pristine as always in his lined suit, eyes me. "Where's your son?" His tone demands authority.

I growl. "Watch how you address me."

"I'll speak however I please when we're alone in this office. Outside, I know my place. Now, where is your son?" ...
