Leo’s POV:

I watched Ava approach. The kid in her arms was whimpering, crying. I couldn't tell if the blood on her was her own or from someone else.

"I smell vampire," Axel suddenly says, tilting his head as we watch Ava walk toward us.

Ava stops right in front of us and looks at me, but the kid's scent makes Axel growl loudly in my head.

"Hybrid," he says, standing on all fours.
