Chapter 2

"Savvy, Brandon Langley’s birthday is this weekend. He’s planning to invite a few close friends over to his place for dinner. You’ve got to come!" Raymond Jenkins said with a mysterious smile.

I was confused—why was it so important that I go?

But since Raymond was going, of course, I had to be there too.

Wherever Raymond Jenkins is, Savannah Winfrey will follow!

I had to keep an eye on him. Who knew when some flashy girl might show up and steal Raymond away? I’d have no one to cry to if that happened!

"Sure, I’ll go. I don’t have anything else planned that day."

I pretended to look at my phone calendar, trying to act like I was busy.

Raymond Jenkins stepped a little closer, his masculine features growing more defined in my sight.

The air was thick with his scent, and I involuntarily held my breath, feeling my ears heat up.

God, why does he look so perfect in every way? He’s my type—my dream guy!

Raymond glanced at me, then suddenly leaned in closer.

His forehead touched mine, and he looked at me, puzzled. "Savvy, why is your face so red? You don’t have a fever, do you?"

Such a typical straight guy.

My heart was about to explode, and I couldn’t look him in the eye. I looked everywhere but at him.

Raymond pulled back slightly, putting some distance between us.

When his presence faded, I surprisingly felt a sense of emptiness inside.

"By the way, Savvy, Brandon Langley specifically requested that you come. Even though a lot of girls like him, I think you’ve got a good chance."

Seeing Raymond so excited for me, I couldn’t help but force a smile.

"Oh, really?"

I laughed awkwardly a few times.

Raymond clapped me on the shoulder, smiling proudly. "I’ve got high hopes for you! Once you two get together, you’d better take me out for a meal—I’ll be your matchmaker!"

I forced a laugh and agreed.

But inside, I was thinking, Please don’t play matchmaker for me! Can you just figure out who I actually like for once?
