Lily stood with one hand on her hip and the other covering her mouth. Suddenly, she burst into laughter and looked at Nancy as if she were hearing a joke. She laughed until tears streamed down her face.
"Nancy, you told me all those things just to provoke me, didn't you?"
Nancy frowned slightly, surprised that Lily could still remain composed.
She didn't say anything but looked at Lily quietly.
Lily giggled and put her hand down, a hint of resentment gleaming in her eyes. "Nancy, I won't tell you! I want you to be an orphan! You will live your whole life without any family. Your mother owed me, and it's your responsibility to pay off her debt!"
Lily hated her sister, but she shouldn't have harmed her sister's daughter like this. She was too narrow-minded.
However, Nancy had dealt with Lily for many years and knew her well. Otherwise, she wouldn't have mentioned Andrew to provoke Lily first.
Nancy realized that Lily would never reveal anything more.
"Alright, Lily, I have one final question for you," Nancy said calmly, looking at Lily.
"Is my mother still alive?"
"She's dead!"
Lily exclaimed triumphantly, raising her eyebrows and waving her hand as if she had finally avenged her grievances. "If your mother didn't die, how could you be adopted by Noah? Nancy, you're a jinx. If it wasn't for you, your mother wouldn't have died. You are destined to be lonely!"
"Alright, thank you."
Nancy nodded and stood up. As she turned around, Lily yelled frantically behind her.
"Even though I'm now a member of the Mirren Family, so what? Nancy, Vivi is Noah's biological daughter and is now a daughter of the Lesser Family. And what about you? Do you think Noah's love for you and your good relationship with him would make the Lesser Family accept you? Hahaha... You fool! You won't get anything!"
Nancy didn't look back but shrugged indifferently, "I don't care about fame, wealth, or power. You think you can provoke me with them? Sorry, I'm not angry at all."
After speaking, she walked to the door and left without turning back.
...
Charlie stood up as soon as Nancy came out. He held her hand and they left together.
On their way back, Charlie just focused on driving silently.
Nancy leaned her elbow on the car window, gazing at the scenery passing by in a blur, and said softly, "Lily said my mother died because of me."
Charlie furrowed his brows and turned his head to look at her. "Nan, don't believe what she said."
"I know."
Nancy sighed heavily. "She has never liked me. I used to be confused about it, but now I finally understand. My mother was her twin sister, and she resented my mother. So, it's natural for her not to like me."
