Nancy picked up a piece of white paper and thought for a moment. She wrote down the number of two billion on it.
It was not that she was stingy and didn't want to use the full five billion given by Charlie to bid, but she estimated that even though Liverton was a valuable place, the orchard on the outskirts, with a thousand acres of land, was worth one billion in the market. What she offered had already doubled that.
She didn't really care if it would satisfy Emily.
After everyone wrote down their numbers, they folded the papers and handed them to Emily.
When Emily saw the number Nancy wrote, she looked meaningfully at Vivian.
"Ms. Lesser, you said she's poor, but she has given much more than what you offered."
"What?!"
Vivian looked at Nancy in disbelief. Nancy didn't dress particularly extravagantly today. She was just wearing ordinary clothes that could be seen everywhere in the mall. When Vivian saw Nancy today, she felt that Charlie probably didn't spend much money on Nancy, otherwise, how could she dress like this?
And it was for such an important transaction!
She almost shouted out, "Impossible!"
Pointing at Nancy, she said to Emily, "Ms. Wilson, don't be fooled. She is very poor, and she was very stingy before. How could she offer a higher price than me? I am the daughter of the Lesser family. My dad said that the money I offered is enough to buy this orchard!"
Emily blinked and looked at Nancy, astonished. Indeed, Nancy didn't look like a rich person.
Nancy tilted her head and looked at them in confusion. "Do all rich people have to show off their wealth? Is it not allowed for me to be low-key?"
She opened her bag, took out her wallet, and took out the card Charlie gave her last night. "Do I need to make a property notarization?"
"Hehe..."
Emily smiled and shook her head. "No need, Ms. Swinton. I believe that since you dared to write the number, you must be able to produce the money. Well, now I announce that George, Paul, Xavier, Yohan, and Kyle, you may leave."
After hearing this, those men nodded and stood up.
It was clear that the prices offered by Vivian and Nancy were much higher than theirs.
Liverton was indeed full of wealthy people, but there were not many who could suddenly take out tens of billions. Besides, some big shots didn't even come to participate.
After they left, Emily smiled at Nancy and Vivian. She slowly and rhythmically fiddled with her jade bracelet.
"I'd like to ask both of you, what are you planning to do with my orchard after you buy it?"
Vivian, afraid of being preempted by Nancy, almost spoke as soon as Emily finished speaking.
"I plan to build a mansion. It will definitely be large and beautiful."
"Well, okay."
Emily then looked at Nancy. "Ms. Swinton, what about you?"
Just as she finished speaking, the jade bracelet suddenly fell to the ground, and the jade beads were scattered all over the floor.
Emily panicked and immediately squatted down to pick up the jade beads. "Oh my god! This was the last gift my husband gave me. How did it snap all of a sudden? Could it be..."
As she said this, her eyes turned red, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Could it be that he doesn't want me to sell the orchard?"
