Chapter 278: Thompson

"Uh? You bought it for one billion?"

Charlie returned home, looked at the contract that Nancy handed over, and frowned in disbelief. "If Emily were a man, I would really think you used some extraordinary means."

"Come on!"

Nancy snorted disdainfully and then told him about what happened at Emily's house earlier.

After hearing it, Charlie was more shocked. "A story plus a love knot worth one billion? Nan, your story and love knot are really valuable!"

"That's right!"

Nancy suddenly froze for a moment. "Oh, honey, I just remembered the book. Wait for me. I'll go find it."

When Noah had an accident before, Nancy sold their old house to cover the medical expenses. Anyway, Noah was living in the hospital, and she was living in the school, so it didn't matter if they didn't have a home.

Before selling the house, Nancy packed up everything in the house. There wasn't anything valuable, just some photo albums and that book, which Nancy took with her.

The albums and book had been kept in Nancy's dormitory at school. After graduating, she brought them with her to Liverton.

It had been a long time since she had touched those things. When Nancy took out the book, its pages had turned yellow, and some corners were tattered and torn.

Charlie looked at her holding the book and couldn't help but chuckle. "Nan, is this book one of a kind? It looks like it's been around for several decades."

Nancy's face blushed slightly. "I never paid attention to this book before. After reading it, I just threw it aside. If it weren't for my dad always telling me to preserve this book well, I probably would have sold it as scrap paper long ago."

She stuck out her tongue at Charlie. "After all, I used to be really poor."

Charlie's gaze darkened. He walked over and grabbed her small hand. "Nan, from now on, I will let you become the richest poor person in the world."

He lowered his head and looked at the book in Nancy's hand. His eyes narrowed suddenly. "Doesn't this book have a title? It just says 'Thompson'."

Nancy shook the book in her hand. "Yes, it's hand-drawn, not printed. It seems that some old man who liked to make knots was afraid that the art would disappear from this world, so he specially hand-drew it and passed it on to future generations."

Charlie nodded and flipped through the book. It was indeed hand-drawn, and each knot had a story that was told in great detail. Men wouldn't be interested in it, but women could read it to pass the time.

"Nan, since Andrew asked you to keep this book, then keep it well and wait for an opportunity to get in touch with him. Maybe he will remember what happened in the past twenty years and tell you about your origins. I have a feeling that this book is related to your identity."

"Huh?"

Nancy blinked her eyes, feeling somewhat amused. "So, you think my biological father might be a master of knot-making?"

Because Noah and Lily knew nothing about knot-making, it was obvious that this book had nothing to do with them.
