Smith's mouth twitched fiercely as he couldn't help but raise his hand to his forehead.
"Mr. Firth, oh Mr. Firth, you really enjoy adding fuel to the fire, don't you?" he thought.
But what could he say?
Nothing, really. He could only force a dry laugh and nod in agreement.
As for those girls, well, they brought it upon themselves. He couldn't be blamed for that.
Because Charlie expressed his admiration for Nancy's piano skills, the rest of the dinner went rather pleasantly.
After the meal, Smith led everyone to say their goodbyes.
Charlie personally escorted them to the parking lot downstairs.
"Which car are you taking?"
As soon as Charlie asked, David smiled and reached out his hand, "Nancy will ride with me in this one."
"Okay."
Charlie nodded. In the envious glances of everyone, he personally helped Nancy into the car and thoughtfully closed the door for her.
On the way back, Linda struggled to contain her laughter. She felt her cheeks were about to cramp from holding it in.
Once they got back to the villa, she lay on the bed with Nancy and burst into laughter.
"Hahaha... I can't stop laughing..."
Nancy glanced at her and smiled softly, "Okay, Linda, we might be sharing a room, but your devilish laughter might attract others, you know?"
"No, no..."
Linda, laughing so hard tears came out, rolled over next to Nancy. She wiped the tears while still unable to stop laughing.
"Nan, don't you find them hilarious? Charlie is your husband! What were they thinking?"
Nancy pursed her lips, "I don't know what they were thinking. Maybe they felt I overshadowed them tonight?"
"Tch..."
Linda snorted disdainfully, "As long as it's Charlie, the spotlight should be yours! Lucy was so shameless, flirting with your husband right in front of you. I should have splashed my juice on her face!"
"Right!"
Nancy nodded in agreement, "I was just too shocked by her boldness at the moment. But later, I did fight back, and it felt somewhat satisfying."
"Oh, come on!"
Linda bumped her playfully, "The satisfying part wasn't even you! It was your husband, Charlie! Gosh, he had such a beautiful view right before him, and he didn't even glance at it. I really admire him for that; it's not easy for a man to do that."
"Isn't it?"
Nancy smiled, feeling a surge of happiness, "He really does deserve praise for that."
"Hahaha..."
Linda laughed again, then lay down beside Nancy, "I'm really looking forward to the first public competition in seven days. I want to see how you'll metaphorically slap their faces!"
"Hmm?"
Nancy thought about it, frowning slightly, "No, I need to work hard too. I think the scar on my hand will be gone the day after tomorrow. I don't want others to say I won through connections; I want to win with my own skill."
"So what?"
Linda shrugged, turned over, and hugged Nancy's waist, "Nan, having connections is also a form of strength! Why worry? Others can only envy and hate. Let them hate if they want; what does it have to do with you?"
