Chapter 410: Aren't We Having a Nice Conversation Right Now?

Yvonne, ultimately resigned, left the room.

David, watching her leave, covered his slapped cheek, grumbling coldly, "Is my face something anyone can just hit? This is outrageous!"

Smith glanced at Charlie and then at Nancy, before walking over to David with a smile. He put an arm around David's shoulder, "Alright, alright, I know you've been wronged today. I’ll treat you to a drink tonight, hehe, let’s go and stabilize the situation in your group."

The mention of drinks instantly brightened David's eyes, though he still huffed in indignation, "I want the good stuff, you know, from your private collection."

"Okay, okay."

Smith agreed, still smiling. As they reached the door, Smith suddenly remembered Linda and turned back, "Why are you still standing there? Come on."

Linda chuckled and gave Nancy a knowing look before merrily following them out, carefully closing the door behind her.

Now alone in the room with Charlie, his stern expression softened slightly.

"Come here."

Nancy, happy to see him, felt an unexplainable longing even though they had only been apart for a day.

With a giggle, she walked over.

When she wasabout to sit next to him, Charlie suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto his lap.

"Hey..."

Nancy exclaimed, instinctively glancing towards the door.

Charlie wrapped his arms around her waist, his warm breath on her face. "No one will come in."

Their breaths intertwined, and Nancy felt her body temperature rising. She placed her hands on Charlie’s shoulders, hesitating, "But this is Smith's office, isn't it inappropriate for us to be so intimate here?"

"You silly girl."

Charlie gently nuzzled her nose with his, the atmosphere growing more intimate.

"Why do you think Smith sent everyone away?"

"Huh?"

Nancy was initially baffled, but soon realized the implication. Smith, aware of her relationship with Charlie, had sent David and Linda away to give them privacy.

But...

Still, Nancy felt uneasy, "Honey, I still think it's not right. Maybe... you should let me down, and we can have a proper conversation."

Charlie raised an eyebrow, looking into her amber eyes, "Aren't we having a nice conversation right now?"

Nancy, "…"

It wasn’t the same!

Anyone opening the door now would surely get the wrong impression about their intimacy.

"Ah, honey..."

Her resistance grew more evident, but Charlie’s arms around her waist were unyielding.

"Okay, let me tell you," Charlie finally said. "Smith has agreed to give me an hour each morning to spend time alone with you. So, no one will come in now."

Holy cow...

Nancy’s eyes widened in disbelief at the extent of Charlie's influence.

But, her reservations seemed to melt away.

She naturally wrapped her arms around his neck, playfully rubbing noses with him, whispering softly, "It’s just for a few months, can't you wait?"
