"Wait, really?"
Linda was so shocked that her jaw almost hit the floor.
Although her family was wealthy, ten billion yuan was not a small amount, and all for a knot made of rope? That seemed incredibly valuable.
"Nan, you're not kidding, right? A knot saved you ten billion?" Linda asked in disbelief.
"Yes."
Nancy nodded seriously. "My husband knows about it too. If you don't believe me, ask him."
Linda turned to Charlie, and upon seeing him nod, she was completely flabbergasted.
"Oh my God! I never knew such a thing could be so valuable. No, I must learn how to make that Acacia knot and the Lover's Knot you're making now. You have to teach me."
Nancy smiled helplessly. "Linda, the knot itself isn't valuable. It's valuable only to certain people because it represents a spiritual bond. That’s why it has such an effect."
Linda pouted, not quite convinced. "I know! But what does that matter? I still want to learn, please teach me... please?"
Nancy couldn't resist Linda's charm.
Who could refuse a cute doll-faced girl begging like that?
Nancy's amber eyes were full of laughter, and she nodded indulgently. "Alright, alright, I'll teach you."
Before Linda could rejoice, the old man suddenly interrupted sternly, "No, you can't teach her!"
Linda's smile vanished at the old man's shout. She threw her tangled knot onto the coffee table in frustration and defiantly glared at the old man.
"Why can't Nan teach me? What does this have to do with you? Nobody can stop Nan from teaching me!"
"No! No! No!"
The old man became increasingly agitated, his face flushed with panic. He seemed to have a lot to say but didn’t know where to start, repeating "no" over and over. He looked at Nancy with an intense gaze.
"You really can't teach her!"
"Hey, old man, I call you 'old man' out of respect. Given how you've treated us from the start, it wouldn’t be too much if I called you a little old man!"
Linda was infuriated. She felt like this store was incompatible with her. Ever since entering, her mood had never been smooth.
"This is between me and Nan. You have no right to interfere! Even if you did, could you really bite us?" Linda mocked.
"I... I... I..."
The old man was so flustered by Linda’s retort that he couldn’t form a coherent sentence.
Linda stuck out her tongue and made a face at him. "What’s with you? These items are ours now that we’ve paid. Whether Nan teaches me to make knots is none of your business. Now, stop bothering us. Nan is about to teach me."
Linda handed some ropes back to Nancy. "Nan, please teach me quickly."
Nancy took the ropes and began teaching Linda.
She, too, wondered why the old man was so concerned about their matter.
Just as she started teaching Linda a little, the old man's breathing suddenly became rapid. He seemed to want to say something to Nancy but only managed to gasp before suddenly collapsing to the ground...
