Chapter 505: What Do You Think?

Nancy returned to the room to find Charlie already sitting up against the headboard, holding a tablet and working. Seeing Nancy enter, he placed the tablet aside.

"Back?"

"Mhm."

Nancy sighed, grabbed her pajamas, and headed into the bathroom. Soon after, she emerged in her pajamas and sat next to Charlie on the bed.

"If you still have work to do, go ahead. Don't mind me."

Charlie did have work. Today's matter mentioned by Tom Adams had already prompted him to order Tom to secretly investigate the mole within the company. He was also figuring out how to have the tech department revise the previous plan.

After all, so much human, material, and financial resources had been invested; the project couldn't just fail because Grand Era Group had applied for the patent first.

But seeing Nancy's slightly furrowed brows, he preferred to put aside his work and keep her company.

"I've finished my work, was just looking at some news."

He stretched out his arm and gently pulled Nancy into his embrace.

Looking down at the little woman in his arms with unresolved worries, he chuckled softly, "Encountered something? Is there anything I can help?"

Nancy couldn't possibly tell Charlie about what Henry had said earlier. She pondered for a moment before letting out a long sigh.

"I'm worrying about whether to continue with academic research in medicine following my professor, or to apply to a hospital, or perhaps even join a tech company, considering my IT skills aren't bad either."

"Heh..."

Charlie laughed helplessly, "Nan, if you said that out loud elsewhere, do you know you'd get beaten up?"

"Hm?"

Nancy looked up at him, puzzled. "Why?"

Charlie raised an eyebrow, "Because for anyone else, being able to choose just one of those options would be quite good already. But you have so many options, wouldn't that make people jealous?"

"This..."

Nancy stuck out her tongue and laughed awkwardly, "Seems like it."

She was indeed worried about what kind of job to choose.

Previously, she didn't have such burdens and planned to call her professor for advice before deciding. But after Henry accused her of liking Charlie for his money, she became conflicted.

She felt she needed to find a very profitable job to prove to Henry that it wasn't Charlie's money she was after. She could earn her own money, just not as much as Charlie.

Seeing her still frowning, Charlie softly asked, "What about you? What do you like the most?"

"I..."

Nancy bit her lip in frustration, "Actually, I don't have a favorite. I find them all okay. I pursued clinical medicine because it would make finding a job easier with a doctoral degree, and I completed my bachelor's and master's consecutively in four years, then easily got into a doctoral program. It was because my dad was hospitalized, and we didn't have enough money; otherwise, I would have also pursued a doctorate in information technology."

Charlie's lips twitched severely. What kind of treasure had he found in this girl? Just casually getting into a doctoral program could infuriate so many people.

Though he wasn't envious, inevitably, others might be.

However, he understood Nancy well.

"If you want to make big money, my advice would be to go down the IT path. If you want fame, then pursue medical research. I wouldn't recommend going to a hospital because being a doctor would keep you very busy, taking up the time you could spend with me."
