The crowd was speechless at the sight.
Could these obsequiously flattering figures really be the same tech department staff who used to look down on everyone?
Even Simon brought over a small hotpot, saying, "Mrs. Firth, with so many of us, hotpot is the best choice."
Nancy looked at their enthusiastic preparations helplessly, "How can I possibly finish all this? Alright, no need to buy more. Let's all gather around and have hotpot together."
Xander and the others, including Simon, immediately stood to attention, "Yes, boss!"
The entire cafeteria was astounded by this display.
How long had it been?
Nancy had only been with the company for a morning, and she had already won over the entire tech department?
This was impressive beyond belief.
If it were them, they were sure they couldn't achieve such a feat.
Nancy paid no mind to the surrounding stares and enjoyed the meal with her team.
Midway through the meal, Simon, half-jokingly, half-seriously said, "Mrs. Firth, after lunch, can you show me that program you improved to one millimeter? I need to write a report, and the programs have always been stored with me."
Nancy glanced at him casually while eating, "Due to the incident with Grand Era Group, the senior management suspects there's a mole in our tech department. So, I've entrusted the program to Xander for safekeeping. Even Thomas and the others haven't seen it. If Grand Era Group steals it again, then Xander would be the mole."
Xander's face flushed with a show of loyalty as he vigorously shook his head, "Boss, you have to believe me! I'm not a mole."
"I know you're not."
Nancy reassured Xander with a smile, "That's why I entrusted it to you. You must keep it safe, or else you won't be able to clear your name if something goes wrong."
Thomas and the others nodded in agreement, "Right, boss is correct. We only glanced at the program but didn't examine it closely. Xander, now that the program is on your computer, you must protect it well."
Xander took a deep breath, feeling the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, yet also felt honored by Nancy's trust, feeling a surge of ambition.
"Boss, don't worry. With the program in my care, I guarantee there will be no issues! Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to face the consequences."
Simon watched their exchange with a suddenly profound gaze…
In the afternoon, Nancy called a small meeting with the tech department to discuss her suggestions for improvements to the new program and equipment. Unsurprisingly, whatever she proposed, Xander and the others agreed without hesitation.
"Ah... I'm so tired..."
Finally, when it was time to leave work, Nancy stretched and picked up her bag to head downstairs.
Xander and his group quickly packed up and followed her.
Nancy glanced at Xander's computer, "Xander, you're not taking your computer home?"
Xander shook his head, "The company has a policy; tech department staff cannot take their computers home."
Knowing what Nancy was worried about, Xander reassured her with a smile, "Boss, don't worry. My computer's password is extremely complex. No one besides me can unlock it. It's very secure!"
Nancy nodded in relief. As Simon also emerged from the office, she greeted him with a smile, "Mr. Blackwell, you're not working overtime?"
Simon shrugged, "With Mrs. Firth leading us, do we need to work overtime?"
Xander and his group unanimously echoed, "Of course not!"
