Simon painstakingly climbed floor by floor, all thirteen stories of stairs, until he was gasping for breath upon reaching his destination.
"Damn it, once I'm done with this job, I'm quitting for good, no more suffering this injustice."
The thought of the reward he'd receive revived his spirits.
The last job alone was enough for him to buy a house in Liverton outright. Completing this job would give him enough money to live comfortably in a second-tier city for the rest of his life.
His excitement grew as he hurried towards the tech department, knowing Xander's location like the back of his hand. Even in the dark, he quickly found Xander's laptop.
Sitting at Xander's desk, he booted up the laptop, and after a short wait, the password prompt appeared.
"Ha, Xander thinks he's so clever with his password, but little does he know, I've had all their passwords sent to my email. Fools, thinking they can outsmart me."
With a sneer, he quickly typed in the password, unlocking the computer with ease.
He navigated to Xander's folder, rummaged through it, and eventually found the hidden interface. When he opened the program, his eyes widened in surprise.
"Nancy does have some skills! She actually managed to increase the precision to one millimeter. Too bad this achievement hasn't been made public yet; it's all mine now."
After his cold laugh, he plugged in a USB drive, clicked download, and contentedly waited for the completion.
Suddenly, with a "click," all the lights in the office blazed on.
Simon, caught off guard, instinctively closed his eyes against the sudden brightness.
Once his eyes adjusted, he opened them to find Nancy, Xander, the four others, and the company's executives all standing before him.
"You...you all..."
Nancy, arms crossed, leisurely observed him, "Simon, you've been wanting to quit for a while, haven't you? At today's meeting, you tried to provoke me so you could leave the company openly. But after hearing about the program's precision increase to one millimeter, you couldn't bear to leave. Greed really does swallow more than a snake can."
Xander was livid, glaring at Simon, unable to contain his fury.
"Simon! The whole company knows the program is on my computer, and you still try to steal it, framing me and wanting to ruin me!"
By now, Simon knew he was exposed but felt fearless, laughing maniacally in response to Xander's righteous anger.
"Ha...Ha...Ha..."
Tears of laughter streamed down his face, his expression turning increasingly grotesque, "You fools! Grand Era Group offers much better terms than Glory Group. Why should I continue to slave away for Glory Group? I've worked here for ten whole years! Ten years! I couldn't even afford a house in Liverton. But just by handing over the previous program to Grand Era Group, they paid me five million! Five million, Xander, Thomas, have you ever seen so much money in your lives?"
