She had no intention of supporting her father as his daughter should; instead, she reveled in his misfortune, secretly pleased with herself.
After leaving the elder's presence, Vivian was heading towards her own courtyard when a figure facing away from her turned around.
Recognizing the person, Vivian expressed her surprise, "Uncle, what are you doing here? Didn't you leave already?"
Quentin looked at her, his lips curving slightly, "I was waiting for you."
"Waiting for me?"
Vivian, puzzled, approached and stood in front of Quentin. Seeing his usually stern face smiling at her made her feel uneasy, more so than with anyone else she had encountered before.
Even though she knew Quentin wouldn't harm her, she lacked the courage to meet his gaze. After a quick glance, she immediately lowered her head.
Quentin, pleased with her reaction, thought if he couldn't even intimidate a young girl like Vivian, how could he possibly manage the Grand Era Group for so many years?
"Heh..."
He feigned a kind smile, "Vivian, I know you're walking on thin ice in the Lesser family, being extremely cautious. But don't worry, from now on, I've got your back. No one will dare to kick you out of the Lesser family. You can continue living like the Lesser family's young lady."
Vivian's heart skipped a beat. She wanted to look up and discern whether Quentin was deceiving her or genuinely wanted to protect her, but she was too afraid.
Having been in the entertainment industry for so many years, Vivian knew well that there's no such thing as a free lunch. If Quentin was offering his protection, it would surely come at a cost!
But she had no other choice now. Other than relying on Quentin, could she depend on Andrew, who favored Nancy?
With this realization, she finally mustered the courage to look up at Quentin, but only for a moment before she lowered her gaze again.
"Uncle, what do you want me to do?"
Since Vivian was smart, Quentin didn't beat around the bush, "From now on, in the Lesser family, you do as I say and follow my orders. Vivian, you've been in the entertainment industry for years, adept at reading people and situations. When the time comes, I trust you can kick Nancy when she's down."
Vivian had long despised Nancy. After returning to the country, she hadn't provoked Nancy, knowing she had lost Andrew's support. If she clashed with Nancy, no one would be there for her.
Now that Quentin was targeting Nancy, how could she not be thrilled?
She wished she could jump up and laugh out loud. Without a second thought, she agreed, "Okay, Uncle, I promise!"
"Good."
Quentin pulled out a card and handed it to her, "I'm very satisfied with your performance tonight. This is some pocket money from your uncle. Take it."
Vivian's eyes lit up at the sight of the card. Since her return, Andrew hadn't given her any money, and she was destitute. Quentin's card was a godsend!
She eagerly took the card, showing none of the restraint expected of a lady of her status, but rather the eagerness of a beggar on the street, "Thank you, Uncle!"
