No sooner had Henry stepped out the door than Damian and Jilian excitedly high-fived each other.
"Hahaha..."
The two stood in the room, hands on hips, and burst into hearty laughter.
"The brother-in-law is really generous, just letting us be the mediators and giving each of us a million. This money is just too easy to make!"
Damian said, and Jilian, excited, slapped him on the shoulder, "Yeah, and the brother-in-law is genuinely a good person. He adores our sister so much. Following him in the future means we'll never have to worry again, hahaha..."
After another round of laughter, Damian suddenly seemed to remember something and sheepishly touched his nose.
"But, Jilian, are we being a bit unfair to Henry?"
"Not at all!"
Jilian, though feeling a bit guilty, still tried to sound very confident, "We are helping Henry, aren't we! Henry is clearly no match for our brother-in-law! And sister's attitude is also very clear. If we don't do this, and Henry becomes obsessed, it'll ruin his relationship with our sister, and he'll regret it for his entire life!"
Damian took a deep breath, then another, trying to suppress his guilty conscience.
He nodded, convincing himself, "Right! We're not doing this for the million, but for Henry's sake!"
Jilian patted him on the shoulder, "Exactly, we need to keep telling ourselves that we're doing this for Henry's good!"
Henry, oblivious to all this, was pondering over what Jilian and Damian had said and found himself at the doorstep of Charlie and Nancy's bedroom without realizing it.
Standing at the door, looking at the closed door, he felt indescribably uncomfortable.
He knew that during the time he wasn't with Nancy, she had been living with Charlie.
They shared the same bed, waking up to see each other first thing every morning.
Truthfully, he envied Charlie.
But as Jilian said, maybe even he didn't know what his true feelings towards Nancy were.
"Sigh..."
He exhaled and knocked on the door.
Quickly, the door opened, and Charlie, seeing him, stepped out, closing the room door behind him just as Henry tried to peek inside.
Henry had no choice but to turn his gaze to Charlie, "Can we talk?"
"Sure."
Charlie led him into the adjacent study, where they sat facing each other on the sofa.
Henry pressed his lips together tightly before slowly starting, "About what you said today, I can agree, but I have a few conditions!"
Charlie raised an eyebrow and gestured with his hand, "Let's hear them."
Henry's hands, hanging by his sides, clenched tightly, "First, I want to live with you guys!"
Charlie didn't seem surprised by this; he chuckled softly, "That's possible. Nan and I bought a piece of land in the suburbs a few months ago and are now building a manor there. Once it's completed, we can give you a courtyard where you can live permanently, considering Nan only has you as family."
Henry was caught off guard by Charlie's straightforward agreement, so much so that he felt a bit embarrassed.
Biting his lip hard, he continued with a stern face, "Second, if you ever mistreat my sister, I will take her away, and we will leave you forever!"
